Hi there..I'm brand new member here and I'm looking forward to all the reading and tips.So my first question is...I got a 65" dlp that I'm fixing to set up in my living room.The problem is that I can't really find a tv stand thats long enough to place my front speakers on either side of the tv..(it's not wide enough) so my question is,I know that I can place my center speaker in front of the tv on the stand but will it be okey to place the left and right speakers on the wall at the same hight as the center speaker.The reason I ask is as you know the dlp is a little deeper than a lcd or a plasma that you can hang on the wall,so if my center and front speakers is about 1 1/2 foot diffrent in deph compared to the tv would it make a big diffrence in sound, then have them paralel with each other (like a straight line).

-speaker stands would be my first choice but they may not work for your situation.
-the center and fronts do not have to be at the same height or distance from you.
-you will pretty much always be making some kind of compromise in speaker placement because the ideal placement for one reason usually conflicts with another reason to put the speaker somewhere else.  eg, you should have the tweeters at ear level but the screen is above ear level so what sounds better, ear level or closer to the screen?  
-there are too many factors to know what will sound better or worse in your room.  play with it a little and find a solution that sounds good to you (placement wise) and then get the appropriate stands, mounts, furniture etc to make it all look okay.

BTW, what kinds of speakers are we talking about as some tend to sound better away from walls?

I agree stands are the best route.  Ideally for movie watching, the tweeters should be roughly centered vertically to the sides of the screen, so, higher than the center in this case.  Having the speakers on the wall will tend to give a hollow sound as the waves bounce off the side of the TV, Plus they may be blocked from seats to the side of the viewing area.  It is best if the speakers are at least slightly in from of the TV to avoid this.
