Denon AVR-1609 and Yamaha YST-SW315

Thread Starter
I am pretty new to the HT scene, and have what seems like a basic question.  My parents own an AVR-1609 and 5 speakers.  For whatever reason they did not purchase a sub with the system.  It was sold and set up by a local and reputable HT store here in town.  Long story short they want a sub now...  I went on Amazon and bought the YST-SW315.  I looked at the rear panel of the Denon and saw it had one rca style jack labeled "pre out subwoofer."  I assumed it would be a matter of simply running an interconnect cable from the Denon to the Yamaha.  After doing more research, I read an online copy of the Yamaha manual, which states not to hook up a connection from a pre out which only has one jack.  Is this dangerous?  Can i just get a splitter and hook the mono pre out to the dual inputs on the yamaha?  Any help would be appreciated.

No it's not dangerous, yes you can use a splitter.
