How to get cable sound thru my surround sound system

Hi there

I recently got a Samsung Home Theatre System 5,1 (HT-Q70) which I connected to my Panasonic Plasma 42" and my Rogers digital cable.

1. I am not getting a cable sound through my sound system
2, the central speaker doesnt produce sound, although while testing, it works fine
3,. same with my rear speakers

I am not that good with cable connections. Anybody with a link to a site that has diagram would be appreciated, or if you can explain me in simple terminology.

Much appreciated
MH

You have to connect the optical out from the digital cable box to the back of the HT system.  If the cable box doesn't have optical, then use the red/white analog "out" from the back of the cable box to one of the "aux in" on the HT.  Use aux button on HT remote to select the digital in or one of the analog aux ins as appropriate.

If your speakers all work with the test tone, if no center speaker then you have the wrong sound mode selected.  Hit the "dolby prologic II mode" and switch it to pro-logic.
