I agree there is a lot of shovelware out there for the Wii, but any decent gamer will know what to look for. Other than that some great games coming for the Wii. Personally, I can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy 2!

I've been gaming since the '70s, and I think the Wii is great.  I've had it since Christmas, and I already have 17 games (counting two GC games I bought just for the Wii, even though I have a GC as well).  I think a hardcore gamer has to have just about every system nowadays.  I wouldn't have missed GTAIV and I won't miss Red Dead, but at the same time, no gamer should be without SMG.  I, too, look forward to the sequel.  I don't think there'll ever be a generation where I'll be willing to miss out on Nintendo's exclusives.

I own a Wii, and plan on getting Mario Galaxy 2, but I'd fucking kill myself if I missed out on Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, Halo: Reach, Fable III, and Fallout: New Vegas.

To say nothing of Mass Effect 3, in a couple of years.

To be fair, it's perfectly reasonable to expect everything major to pay off in the final game of that trilogy, considering all the choices that you've made in Mass Effects 1 and 2. Some assholes are going to be going up against the Reapers near enough alone, while I'm going to be smashing their stupid mecha-Cthulhu faces in with my RACHNI ARMADA.

*DSi Band management: Nintendo DS can connect and manage things while you jam out.  It's pretty cool..

But here are the two big reasons:

* It imports even user-created music/tracks off the PC version easy, with minor effort.  That's big.

* Roadie Battle.  This is the best mode in any version of GH, and it is probably one of the most fun local modes.

I agree about the issue with shovelware on Wii.. then again, there are lots of big name titles on PS3/XBOX360 with major price tags that suck a---.  Which is why I generally recommend something like Gamefly.  Try it first, then if you like it, keep it.  Or buy it used.  I almost never buy anything without playing it first.  Rare exceptions if I can play the demo before hand or if it's a sequel to one I already own.

Thanks for the info.  I don't have the PC version or a DS, so the Wii's advantages wouldn't outweigh the disadvantages for me.

Roadie Battle does sound fun -- if you have 4 players and 2 DSes.  :)

I generally only buy games used or once they hit the bargain bin (and after researching reviews) -- titles I want get released at a much faster rate than I can play through them.  The last brand-new game I got was GH5, when they were offering GH Van Halen for free plus $10 off when you preordered.
