Klipsch Icon V 5.1 - Opinions?

They have this 5.1 speaker package at Best Buy right now.

Front - Klipsch Icon ZF-36 Towers
Center - Klipsch Icon VC-25 Center
Surround - Klipsch Icon VS-14 Surround
Subwoofer - Klipsch Synergy Sub10

It costs $1309 cdn which is ~$1140 usd.
Buy the parts seperately (at Best Buy) is ~$2500 cdn.

Good buy? They look pretty nice to me. Not sure if I will get the opportunity to audition them, but I will try tomorrow.

Thanks,
Johannes M

Hmm. Is there no edit button?

I ment to say Klipsch Icon VF-36 Towers, not ZF-36.

Re: Klipsch Icon V 5.1 - Opinions?

I've never heard the Icons (I've seen them though at Busted Buy) but have heard previous Klipschs sold at BB, so I hope these new models sound better. It's not like I think the previous ones sound bad, but they don't sound like the Klipschs I grew up with, which IMO had a more fun and lively personality.* I guess you could say the new ones are more "politically correct" so when playing the rock/punk/pop I like, to my ears they aren't as engaging. The newer ones are easier to listen to for longer periods of time because of their tamer sound quality, so guess that's a plus for fans of classical and jazz, music which can go on for much longer periods of time than say, the tracks on my Minutemen Double Nickels on the Dime album.

* on Klipsch's homepage these are now classified as their "Heritage" series
