HD TV provider options

SO I need to find a cable provider in my area (houston) and I really only want to get HD channels.

anyone know of a service that offers only HD. Seems pointless to me to pay for digital cable etc and pay for a service that I really have no interest in.

Why pay for a 100 digital low definition channels that I won't watch...

Appreciate the input.

Dish network has its "TurboHD" HD-only packages. Though you'd have to probably add up TV+internet+phone bundle deals to compare vs. cable company packages and evaluate total cost, making sure to account for teaser rates that expire in 6 months/year.

Great idea, unfortunately, where I live I cannot have a sattelite dish.

Any other suggestions?

Are you familiar with the FCC OTARD document? There are covenants for my neighborhood that state I can't have a satellite dish. I put one up about 2 hours after we moved in.

Yeah, if you are in house, not apartment/condo (w/o balcony w/ satellite exposure), HOA's can't stop you from having a dish.

If you are limited to cable, you would know better than us which companies are deployed in your area, and choice is usually highly limited. I don't think "HD only" is really going to save much anyway, all these cable channels are owned by these mega-conglomerates who make deals with massive cable companies to carry a whole bunch of channels, and the HD version would be included in the deal with the SD. So it's not like the cable company saves any money by not sending you the SD, there's no savings to pass on. Consumers won't be able to get any real savings (maybe, long term effects unclear) unless "a-la-carte" pricing is forced on the MSOs by the FCC.
