Heroes - Season Four ("Redemption") - Page 9

Remember when Heroes was a big thing and people thought the showdown Heroes Vs. 24 was going to be a serious one for the young male audience?

Yeah, that's long over.

9:00 CBS Two and a Half Men 5.7/13 17.56
ABC The Bachelor: On The Wings of Love 4.4/10 13.05
  FOX 24 3.2/7 10.18
  NBC Heroes 2.0/5 4.41
  CW Life Unexpected 0.9/2 2.01

Yeesh.  More then double the total viewership and more then 33% higher in the Demos.  I have a feeling Heroes may be done for.  You can't justify it's budget on a 2.0...

Like others, I thought that this episode could function as a series ending. Clearly, it's not intended to be the series finale but if they don't come back, I like that the end would be that Claire exposed the world to super powered folks.

I loved Season 1, got bored with Season 2 and Season 3 was just all over the place.
Have to say that this was a much better season overall . Still nowhere near what Season 1 was, but after the last two seasons, there has been a definite improvement. In many ways this will allow them to start fresh with Season 5 without a lot of the baggage of previous season threads.

I have a feeling they are going to go with a more straightforward Superhero route if they come back with the main group working together to help people, fight crime, etc.

Actually, I agree with on most everything you said. I loved season 1 of Heroes but was VERY disappointed in 2 &3 which in my opinion was not even close making me think "Kringe" was truly a fitting name. Then, season 4 did redeem itself mostly for me as I watched it mainly on DVR many shows at once. However, I felt like too many things could've been tied up better regardless of rather it's a season or series finale.

I am surprised they remained with the same guy "Kringe" for this long and hope that if there is a season 5 maybe someone with a LOT better writing talent will take over. But going from the ratings, such as those posted here, I really don't see how they would consider bringing it back. If you want to see someone that can make Hereos look like a real joke, then let Geoff Johns produce and write it because his comic books are just amazing and I actually read all of his after 25 years of not reading comics since I was a kid.

Who is "Kringe?"

Are you trying to say Kring, as in Tim Kring, the show's creator?

Kringe is more appropriate..  ;)

Theres just too much padding.

this show could be good if they got rid of claire and just moved on.

So I was like 5 episodes behind and finally watched them all.  I have to say, that those last five or so episodes were the best I've seen from the show in a long, long time.  Too bad that's not exactly saying all that much.

Like many of you, I have a feeling Leno's 10PM show cancellation means this will stay on the air.  The only good thing I see about that is just maybe they can go in an entirely new direction with Claire's revealing herself to the world... but I don't trust them not to do a volume 4 redux.

According to TV Shows On DVD, the S4 DVD/Blu-ray is coming out on July 27. I think a release date that far away from the fall season might indicate that there won't be a fifth season.

Overall, I liked the show. Looking forward to seeing it in order, rather than bouncing around all over the place.

Hopefully all the networks will return to more regular schedules. Out of the three shows I really enjoyed this year V and FlashForward were really screwed up by their mid-season breaks. Only Glee seems to have survived

Heroes has been defeated by villainous ratings - NBC cancels the series.

Update:  NBC may commit to that 2-hour or 4-hour special event to reward Heroes fans.

I would have watched a fifth season.  Not sure why, since I didn't even think the first season was great.  Not a big loss.

Yeah, if it came down to "Chuck" or "Heroes", keeping "Chuck" was a no brainer. If they produce a "Heroes" TV movie or what have you, I'll definitely watch. But it's not a show I'm heartbroken about losing.

If ever a show so massively screwed the pooch between its first and second seasons, I don't think anything could possibly top this one.

That said, this past season was a massive improvement over Seasons 2 and 3, but still, this isn't a series whose passing I'm going to be weeping salt tears over.

Heroes had a great season 1 that ended weakly.  Season 2 and Season 3 were an absolute mess.  Season 4 was better, but being better then total crap isn't saying much.  I'm not surprised.  This was a very expensive production and the returns were rapidly diminishing.  The reference to Chuck above is a good one; Chuck is a comparatively cheap show and so the rewards can be less.

A good 2 - 4 hour movie would be welcome to tie up loose ends from Clair's public swan dive.  Other than that, and as much as I liked "Heroes", it ran its course.  Glad "Chuck" survived.

I would certainly agree with those comments. The first season I thought was going to end very good but was a little let down. However, it seemed like it had a lot of potential. But the writing on this show was just downright dreadful and they had no talent to make this show anything remotely interesting to watch or care about. Kringe would take this show to comic cons and get skewed reactions to it. He just is not a talented guy and that is the bottom line.

I do think season four was better than two and three like most here though. But really could care less it was pulled, especially in favor of Chuck which I think is certainly the better of the two. However, a 2 or 4 hour Heroes wrap up would be OK if they want to do one.
