Re: Zombieland October 9, 2009

I'm not a fan of the zombie movies but I have to say, this one looks damn fun. I can't wait to see this movie.

All things Zombie has a few more clips from the film. I really cannot wait for this one! Looks like it is going to be a fun ride!

Definitely.

With this starting tomorrow I'm surprised there's not more talk. It's sitting at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes right now and is getting some really good reviews. I'll definitely be in line because I can't get enough zombie movies. :)

^^It's at the top of my list of a slew of good movies I hope to see this weekend.

I really liked Jesse Eisenberg in The Squid and the Whale and Adventureland, good to see him branching out and doing something like this too.

This film should make a lot of money and it's really a good film.

^ I saw it this afternoon and the theater seemed fairly crowded. Plus, it seemed like the crowd dug it so word of mouth should be fairly good.

Great flick.  The cameo scene is great.

I really dug the main character "Ohio" i think was his name.  Woody did an excellent job also.  The scene where he meets the cameo person is freaking great!

There's a P.S. after the credits.

Columbus was what they called him.

I kept thinking at the scene they tore the indian store apart "this will look AWESOME in Blueray"  :)  The intricate detail of small items flying around... awesome stuff ;)

In a weird way, this performance actually fits right in with the character schtick he established in those movies. He's still an intelligent, neurotic young dude with girl issues here. And as for the cameo:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This and his Get Smart cameos are the only Billy Murray-style roles Bill Murray's taken in years. I loved what his only regret turned out to be.

Saw it today and it was an entertaining movie, some very good stuff.  Gawd, that BM cameo is flipping hillarious, just awesome.  The theater was pretty packed at 7:20 tonight so it should do really well.

We saw this last night - very funny movie. I loved the rules and how they kept coming up. I'm not a big Woody Harrelson fan but he was great in this movie.

This is interesting. The creators wrote "Zombieland" as a pilot that was sold to CBS--who later dumped it. The movie was put together from the first two episodes, and they've apparently got a full season's worth of material to draw on;

This is one of the few movies where I'd really like to spend another couple hours with the characters. It's too bad they'd never get this case on TV, because I think it'd actually have made a really great series.

While this movie had its funny moments, I was not rolling on the floor at any time. I think they had a great opportunity to make it funner and missed them. Too many touching slow moments. They should have followed each one with Columbus trying for the Zombie Kill of the Week and then showing someone else out doing him. That would have given plenty of chances for bizarre, creative, funny, zombie killing through out the movie. The fun park had far more possibilities than were shown. Then at the end Columbus would  finally get the Zombie Kill of the Week.  Much more rewarding than eating a Twinkie. The movie is supposed to be a comedy about killing zombies after all.

As far as the cameo, for one of my all time favorite comedians, he wasn't even funny. I would recommend seeing this movie, but save some money and wait until it is on dvd to rent it.

Well, it's a comedy, and it takes place in a post apocalyptic zombie world, but at no point was it presented as being "about killing zombies." That zombie's are killed in it is just a staple of the genre.

Looking at this trailer, what other plot would you think it was about?

I don't know, I'd much rather have what we got than, essentially, "Jackass" with Zombies. I think I'll always care more about characters than inventively constructed slaughter. I've never been a huge fan of the Finale Destination or Saw pictures for the same reason.

The opening credit sequence was awesome -- right up there with Watchmen.  The flick is so quotable, too.

I don't care for the Saw pictures much either, but I did find the Finale Destination funny. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this movie. I just think it could have kept the same basic story and had much more to offer. Not necessarily blood and gore style, more like the Pirates of the Caribbean fight style. I think they used the funniest moments in the trailer.

My new favorite movie! The entire cast was fantastic! I have not laughed so hard during a movie in such a long time. I am definitely going to see this film again. The cameo by BM was one of the funniest scenes.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

As someone who is afraid of clowns, the toilet scene and the scene in the amusment park freaked me the hell out! I actually had my eyes closed during the scene where Ohio kills the clown at the amusement park. Ugh! Clowns are nasty freaking scary things.

Definitely a quotable movie. the audience I saw it with was so much fun. Everyone was hootin and hollerin and laughing up a storm. It was great! I love movies that get reactions like that from the audience.

FIVE STARS FROM ME!

Tallahassee's revelation about his son was heartbreaking, especially as it occurred right in the middle of a pretty funny scene. I hope we get more adventures in Zombieland with these characters.
