Re: Donald strachey movies

Yes, ICE BLUES has already been shown on the HERE! network last fall, but so far the DVD of it has not been released. There have been three Donald Strachey releases on DVD so far. Allegedly, two more books have been contracted to be filmed, but they have not yet gone into production to my knowledge.

Re: Donald strachey movies

Bob, I'm constantly searching for info on a DVD of Ice Blues and usually come up empty. About a month ago I found this link in an IMDb post. The Canadian version will be available June 30 from Tower. I may just "import" the thing and say screw the US release. Australia's had it since April, the movie aired back in September....I need my Don/Timmy fix!

Re: Donald strachey movies

Bob...yeah, the listing says its Region 1 and the US is in R1. So it should play.

It still irks me that we have to go this way, though. Regent took forever to release On the Other Hand, Death (aired on here! in July 2008 and on DVD February 2009). Ice Blues could very well have been released in June (ie. now) timed to coincide with Pride around the country.

They seem to like to release only one movie a year in the US: Third Man Out August 2006; Shock to the System February 2007; On the Other Hand, Death February 2009. Best guess: we're looking at a February 2010 release. Which would be stupid.

Jason, Thanks for the help!...went to place the order with my M. card...and well..was not successful....something about non-SecureCode?? Did you try to place an order for this one? Did you have success?

Re: Donald strachey movies

I haven't, Bob. I figured I'll wait until the 30th to see if it magically pops up anywhere in the US around then. If not, it'll be a July purchase for me.

Bob...found this at a Don and Timmy LiveJournal community...

Long story short, apparently Tower doesn't have Ice Blues either.

Even the R4 version which I think was in stock at Amazon is gone now

Thanks for the info Jason.  i ordered the title a while ago and was really disappointed when it was not released on time....i left the order standing, in hopes that it might show...it wasn't THAT expensive...so if i somehow end up with two of them....it wont be a bad thing.

Thought i would revive this "dead horse" and try beating one more time....has anyone heard anything....i e-mail HERE a couple of times....and of course...no reply.

  Thanks.

Last thing I heard was twofold, Bob.  First, there would be no more movies since they were expensive to make and didn't get the best ratings.  Second, no one has any interest in releasing Ice Blues for some reason.  I don't remember where I saw the info, but I believe it was an interview with director Ron Oliver.

ok....thanks for that bit of sad info.

Stumbled on this by accident, bob.  Ice Blues is being released on R1 DVD November 9.  It's coming from E1, which makes sense since they have the overall deal with here! right now.  I haven't seen any of their other here! releases, but I venture to say they can't muck this up too badly.

But we're in for our final Don and Timmy adventure in little more than a month.

HTF has requested a review copy of the film from them, so here's hoping E1 obliges.
