Hey all, first time poster. Thanks for the awesome forum.

I was wondering if it is possible to take component video from SAT and burn it to AVCHD without a PC. If so, what would I use? Thanks so much.

Re: AVCHD

A Mac?

Sorry; couldn't resist. The only thing that's coming to mind is if some of the camcorders out there that record in AVCHD can accept an a/v signal. I have an older (2006) DV camcorder that allows you to reverse the signal through the a/v cables so that you can record an external source onto DV. If there's an HD camcorder that will allow you to do that, I know some of them allow for direct burning to DVD via firewire or USB, but then we're back to using a PC and... we're back to square 1. The conversion process is where you're running into problems. Sony and Canon both make standalone burners that will burn AVCHD onto DVDs, but they're designed to run from camcorders where the material has already been encoded in AVCHD.
