New HT setup w/questions re:amplification

Good morning everybody. While I am new to this forum, I am not entirely new to audio equipment as I used to work in mobile electronics. However, I have a questions regarding amplifiers for home audio.

I have a pair of 12" Alpine Type R 4 ohm DVC subs in a sealed box (proper dimensions for the subs) and I am interested in utilizing them in my home theater setup. I am running a Yamaha RX-V565 receiver with Klipsch F-3 tower speakers and C-2 center channel. I would like to utilize the Alpine subwoofers as I already have them. I am considering building a new enclosure for a single sub but I was going to wait and see how they sound as a pair.

I've been looking around for amplifiers capable of running these subs. They are currently wired down to 2 ohms within the box. I was running them down to .5 ohms when they were in my car (years ago). They are rated at 200-500W RMS range.

So far, I have found 1 amp that seems capable of getting the job done, but would like some more experienced opinions on the matter. Also, if there are any other amps that you would recommend I am happy to hear suggestions. The amp I'm looking at now is the Behringer EuroPower 1500, I would like to stay within the price point of this amp if at all possible. I have not found very many Class D monoblock amps for HT use (that aren't very expensive)

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Re: New HT setup w/questions re:amplification

When you say "proper dimensions" is that the Alpine recommendation for a car install? Because those recommendations don't always (OK never) perform well in home theaters. Most sealed boxes in the car have a very high Qtc which makes them have a steep low-end roll-off. I like my sealed subs to have a Qtc of around .5 to .7. If they are ported then tuning them to 25hz or lower is great for home theater but a boomy nightmare in the car.

Based on your description, they are dual 2 ohm drivers. What are the rest of the Theile/Small parameters?

As far as amps, the Behringer is a great choice but I'd go with the larger one and just watch the volume control. The difference is only a few $$$ and you will want more power when you upgrade. I also suggest getting the Behringer Feedback Destroyer as a parametric EQ for your sub and a Radio Shack analog SPL meter to plot your sub's in-room frequency response.
