Good morning everybody. While I am new to this forum, I am not entirely new to audio equipment as I used to work in mobile electronics. However, I have a questions regarding amplifiers for home audio.
I have a pair of 12" Alpine Type R 4 ohm DVC subs in a sealed box (proper dimensions for the subs) and I am interested in utilizing them in my home theater setup. I am running a Yamaha RX-V565 receiver with Klipsch F-3 tower speakers and C-2 center channel. I would like to utilize the Alpine subwoofers as I already have them. I am considering building a new enclosure for a single sub but I was going to wait and see how they sound as a pair.
I've been looking around for amplifiers capable of running these subs. They are currently wired down to 2 ohms within the box. I was running them down to .5 ohms when they were in my car (years ago). They are rated at 200-500W RMS range.
So far, I have found 1 amp that seems capable of getting the job done, but would like some more experienced opinions on the matter. Also, if there are any other amps that you would recommend I am happy to hear suggestions. The amp I'm looking at now is the Behringer EuroPower 1500, I would like to stay within the price point of this amp if at all possible. I have not found very many Class D monoblock amps for HT use (that aren't very expensive)
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
