I would hardly go as far to call this Blu-Ray set a "step back" for something as miniscule as episode sequence!

It is a step back when your a Quadriplegic & you need help changing the discs to watch them in production order. Especially when its was in the production order on the previous DVDs.

Well, it was in production order on the 40-volume version. But the remastered DVDs were production order, and I thought the non-remastered season sets were as well.

All the DVD season box sets are in broadcast order, form the first set, the remastered set and HD-DVD and now BD. You are correct that the first 40 DVDs that were 2 episodes per disc are production order. I'm sure someone back then complained the box set ought to be broadcast order.

I'm still trying to see if I can find a way to host the PDF of the insert so you can download it.

I have not been around for a while, dead computer. Anyway, i am catching myself up to speed on the HTF. Everything changed in the 4 weeks i was offline. LOVE this insert Nelson, thanks for all the work. Ready to do the next 2 seasons? :)

Oh, and i own a Mac now too.

A Mac virgin. Had to put Windows on it, just so i could have a little comfort. Baby steps.

 Guys-

Great to see the insert is working for you guys! Thanks to Ric for helping me host it!

As for the second and third season, no worries, I'll be preparing those soon!

RickER, funny I've always been a Mac user. In my work, I use CAD for defining a product design, but recently in the past 6 months, I've been learning and adopting a new CAD program that's only for Windows. So I find myself using a PC for that program only and then rolling my chair around back to the Mac for the other work I do. The neat thing is that once I go with an Intel Mac, that CAD program will run on it via Bootcamp, but it's not supported by the company that makes the software. Yet they know a good percentage of designers use their software on Intel Macs! Okay, sorry for the digression into computer OS's.

Hopefully I can sort out my own way to host the next inserts when the next BD's come out. Hopefully September as has been rumored for S2.

Got mine printed, and it looks awesome.... I hate to nitpick, Nelson, but you've got the original air date for "Arena" as 1/12/67, the same air date as "The Squire of Gothos."  According to both Allan Asherman's Star Trek Compendium and Wikipedia*, the air date for "Arena" was actually one week later, on 1/19/67.  I know, nitpicking with a capitol N.  Not a biggie.  I love the insert, and it's going into my Season 1 set... right... now.  There.  What an improvement!

*Yeah, I know... Wikipedia isn't always correct.  I just cited it as a backup example for the information in the book.

 Hi Craig-

Opps, you caught me. I was trying to be as careful as I could to be sure I would catch this. Thanks for being my proof reader.

I had copied and pasted each date one at a time, so I missed that one. I'll try to fix it and see if Ric would mind replacing the file with my updated version.

I've got my hands full right now, so I'll see if I can do that later this week. Thanks and sorry about that guys.

No reason to apologize!  You've done all of us an enormous favor by creating this insert, and it turned out great.  And for me personally, I'll be watching the episodes in production order anyway.

Again---- thanks, Nelson.

Hello Nelson,

Was wondering if you've had a chance to correct the error in the insert?  The insert looks great, but I was waiting for the fix before I downloaded it.  Thanks!

Hi Mark-

I have not made the fix yet to the insert. I was hoping that I could wait till the time came to do the Second Season insert and do the whole thing at that time. I'm imagining sometime in September as more info comes out on the second season set, I'll start the work then. I may also modify the design just a little bit. We'll see then.

If I manage to take care of it earlier, I'll post an update here. I hope you don't mind.

Nelson

By the way, I have a temp website set-up years ago. I never got around to building it. But I have space available for uploading the inserts. I just need to find some info to learn how to set that up. Can someone suggest a website or another resource where I can learn how? I guess I just upload the files via FTP. Thanks!

Nelson,

I don't mind at all.  I appreciate you taking the time to do it in the first place and I look forward to it.  Also, I'm not sure how or where you can upload them.  I hope someone here can help you with that.  Thanks again!  I'll keep a look out.

Any update on anyone doing Seasons #2 and #3 inserts?

Thank you, Nelson, for the season #1 inserts. Along with having accessible inserts that aren't obscured by a disc, having the Production order on tap is a great plus.

btw: All three seasons are available at Best Buy this week for $40 each!

 Hi Greg!

Thanks for the nice words about the insert. I'm still working on them. The second season is real close and the third season is set-up and I need to add the titles. But I've been putting it aside to focus on work projects. I haven't forgotten!

I have it on my list of things to do. Let me see if I can wrap it up soon. Thanks for your patience!

I was thinking about buying these releases because Walmart has them permanently priced at $40 but I'm not too fond of the newer CGI shots ... it just doesn't look right ... and it's now doubtful that I'll buy them.

Jaref, You'd be missing out on a fantastic transfer then! The Star Trek live action sequences look fantastic in blu ray.At $40 a pop, that's a great deal! And you can watch them with the original visual effects and mono sound!

That Amazon deal is better then paying for the set that has all 3 bundled!

Nelson these look fantastic. Can't wait to get my hands on a PDF!

If you want to see some samples of both original and new CGI options on Blu-ray, and also compared to the DVD counterparts:

The Blu-rays include both the original versions and the CGI updates for every episode, in high-def.  You can even switch between them on the fly via seamless branching.

Guys,

I've completed the inserts for all 3 seasons.

The Season 1 insert has been updated to match refinements I made to Season 2 and 3.

I'm looking at options to post them. So anyday now. One option is dropbox, or another option.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out!

I'm posting what the covers look like now. I've asked Ric to help me upload the PDF files, so if he has no technical issues, then hopefully he can help out.

I'm only posting the covers, the insides are like before, they show the disc contents with a simplified design like you see here in the production order list.
