TV Show seasons in thin packs

Sorry in advance if there is a better forum for this question.

Like many other members, I collect season sets of TV series. Most studios have converted to using the plastic thin pack DVD cases, holding either one or two discs. Lately, I've been getting a lot of them with broken hubs. Has anyone found a source for the exact replacements for these cases, both single-disc and 2-disc? Most of the samples that I've gotten are too thick! Thanks for any pointers!

Paul,

I thought you were missing? Sorry, that was an attempt at some Dark Shadows humor.

I usually purchase mine either online or at Staples. The thing I have to keep in mind is whether the cases hold one or two discs when purchasing them. After several years of purchasing DVDs, I've come to expect around 50% of all items I order to arrive (or be bought in-hand) to be less than perfect. So, I stock up on film cases, TV cases, multi-disc boxes, etc.

I don't know about a source for exact replacements, but I would not be surprised to learn that such a source exists. I'm sure some on this Board will have the answer for you.

I've also had good luck @ Walmart and Future Shop, moreso the latter. The difficulty is in finding clear ones. I've been using thinpaks to slowly replace all my snappers, but sometimes all I can find are multicoloured slims.

Re: TV Show seasons in thin packs

Hey, Paul!

Like Scott, I get most of my slim cases at Staples these days. My local store currently carries both single and two-disc clear slims...as well as some colored slim cases. I used to purchase larger amounts from CompUSA when they were still in business in my area.

I have also ordered cases from various online retailers. tapeandmedia.com and sleevetown.com are two companies from whom I have ordered cases of ThinPak slim DVD cases (and other products such as replacement Blu-ray cases).

Why was I buying cases of ThinPaks? There are a number of us here who have "downsized" their entire collections into slimmer cases to regain much of their valuable shelf space. You'll find all kinds of options on how to proceed if interested. Thinpaks take up half the space as the standard Amaray case. Those standard cases take up a LOT of wasted space.

Don't be overwhelmed by the size of that thread. Just start with the past several pages for the latest discussion on on-line vendors. But scattered throughout you'll find some pretty neat pictures from those of us who have chosen to "gasp" tinker with their DVD packaging!

Good luck!
