Entourage Season 6 - Page 3

S1 had Vince building his career and getting Queens Boulevard. S2 had Vince trying to get Aquaman and dating Mandy Moore. The first chunk of S3 didn't have a major storyline and was, in my mind, the weakest season to date. The second part of S3 had Ari trying to get Vince back as his client. S4 had them working on getting Medillin to Cannes. S5 had Vince trying to rebuild his career after Medillin's failure. Outside of E dating a weird looking crazy girl, this season has no major storyline.

I take your point but disagree.  There are a number of different formulas that work (and have worked previously) for this show.  I think they can have plenty of good episodes without a major story arc.  This series was initially billed as a "dramedy" with part drama part comedy.  You can have good episodes if you go with the sitcom, (mostly) standalone ep format.  Some of the best episodes were the guys in search of pot ep (Val Kilmer as the sherpa), the playboy mansion ep, the drama/turtle hand slap game, the vince has a girlfriend ep (the vegetarian who like to swim naked), vince doing the japanese commercial, etc.  I think it can be entertaining even without an overriding storyline.  Just put the guys in situations that stars and their boys get into that the rest of us can only dream about or think are crazy.  I just think they've forgotten to write some funny into their dramedy.

The guys in search of pot w/ Kilmer as the sherpa and the naked, vegetarian girlfriend are the same episode from S1. I just watched that one last week. I know what you mean, though, as the show seems to have lost the comedic element that used to make it so great. Ari and Drama were always a sure thing for laughs, but now they're not even getting any good material to work with. It makes me think the writers might have finally hit the wall on this show and they've got nothing left to offer.

Yeah, there's definitely great stand alone episodes. However, I think when there's a story arc for the season, they can have an episode that is important to that story but not filled with laughs and, while not hysterically funny, it plays OK because it related to the season's story. This year, all the ho-hum stand alones aren't being balanced by a major story.

Agreed.  So many ways to make it good and they whiffed on all of them.

Curb as well as Bored to Death both look vastly funnier.
If the Seinfeld reunion portion of Curb turns out as funny as it looked in the preview, it's going to be the funniest damn thing on TV in a long time.

Good episode tonight.

Tonights episode and the golf one are the only two episodes Ive actually really enjoyed this season.

Definitely an improvement over the past few weeks. Still not a ton of laugh out loud moments, but better than it's been in a while.

Good riddance. Ashleys gone! Couldn't be happier

Also agree best ep of an average season.

How do you delete posts :)  Mouse went crazy.

Agreed that this was better.  Clearly the jumping off point for the second half arcs as Lloyd/Ari, Ashley/E, Drama/Job, Turtle/Jamie Lynn all had significant situation changes to set up new storylines.  Was this episode 10?  Only character with no real situation change was Vince.

PS - Brent, please no Curb spoilers in this thread.  Thanks.  :)

I didn't think that was a "spoiler". The Seinfeld aspect of the show has been promoted all over the place for weeks now.

Yeah, there's two episodes left.

I learned about it from your post.  Guess I am the proverbial man who lives in a shell.  No worries.

I thought the same thing. As always, I laughed at everything Drama did (especially the call back to the texting director) but even Eric had a funny story and Turtle had a nice little 'dramatic' beat when Jamie left.

Yea, it was a good episode. Drama's breakdown was a good laugh and even Eric was funny. I loved his reaction to the girl walking out of the doctors office crying.
Who was that girl riding Vince (she was working at the doctor's office)?
Agreed.  Best ep of the season.  Writing credits were solely to Doug Ellin.  I guess he knows what makes his characters tick.

This week's episode was ok, but overall this show has really lost that spark that used to make it great. Ari has been a shadow of his former self this season and since he has always been the show's biggest asset(along with Drama) that's a big reason for the drop in quality IMHO. It's really just not very funny this season and that's a shame because it used to be one of my favorite shows on TV.

Great Ep and nice end to the Season.  Ari with the paintball gun :)
I liked this episode too. Ari's stuff was really good and I like seeing Lloyd become an agent. Eventhough a good chunk of the show wasn't all that great this year, I think they managed to bring it together a little bit at the end.

I don't know if it'll happen but they seem to be in a good place to wrap the series up next season. They could have Eric get married, Turtle get back together with Jamie (assuming their real life relationship is still going), Drama get to be a lead on a series and Vince keep on making movies and banging chicks.

any1 know who: june florence ellin was? seems like som1 related to Entourage producer Doug Ellin i assume... but all the searches on google turned out to be bad virus-ridden pages, so don't visit those =(.
Given the birthdate of 1936 (I think it was close to that anyway), I assumed it was Doug Ellin's mother.

oh yeah, forgot about the year =P, i think doug is born in 1966...

He also played the "texting' Director.
