A few words about...™ The Incredible Hulk -- in Blu-ray

Better late than never, I finally found the impetus (after trying Hulk 6 years ago) to view the new incarnation aka The Incredible Hulk, now with Edward Norton as the human side of Banner.

I found the film to be a fun outing, albeit with one sequence that seemed to be alternate version removed and reworked from the latest King Kong.

Universal's Blu-ray is reference quality all the way, both for image as well as audio, which is as appropriately huge as the subject matter.

As I've noted in the past, there should be no problems with films that are DI based, and this one a gorgeous example.

I agree with your statement. however the original film also looks great in bluray.
the original had more and better action.

No offense, but welcome to last year. I agree that the IH is reference all the way, but does this need a new thread considering this was released 7-8 months ago?

I for one welcome any comments about any film on disc by RAH, no matter when they were released. Not all of us pounce on new releases the moment they come out, and not all of us lose interest in titles a week later when the next new release comes out. For example, I just set up my first Blu-ray player on Thursday, so I've been scouring the boards for disc reviews, etc. I liked this film last summer, but hadn't gotten it on disc. Now I know it's at least worth a rental on Blu-ray. If the title doesn't interest you any longer, it seems like it would be way easier to just move along than thread dump. No offense.

I just dont see why his opinion could not have been placed in one of the current threads instead of starting a whole new thread 7-8 months after release......Even though he is "RAH" he is still just one opinion. If everyone started a thread on here stating an opinion of any given movie it would be ridiculous. Just my opinion and its ok if you dont like it.

I'm always on the lookout for "A few words about...". The whole idea of this series of reviews is that it's the knowledgeable and informed viewpoint of one particular person.

I consider his input valuable as he is a true expert and not just "some" opinion. I'm quite glad he started a new thread with his signature and hope he continues to do so whether it be a new release or an older one. It makes it easier to read his thoughts - whether I agree or disagree with them.

There are so many releases currently becoming available, that it is almost impossible to give them all enough quality time. There will be occasional stragglers. In addition, when out of town, I use a "travel" monitor, which in the past has always been 50" or less. As some problems don't show up at that size, and should come to light, titles will be re-examined when time permits and comments updated.

The intent here is neither to take up space, nor to "review" which is handled by HTF's noble review staff, but rather to aid potential buyers in identify the releases that are worthy of their investment from a quality perspective.

I apreciate anything you have to say in your "few Words"

btw I bought this on release and thought it was and is one of the best sounding discs i have heard still even 7-8 months after release.

As always, thanks for your take Robert. I'll add it to my collection alongside my 2003 Hulk. Out of curiousity, did you prefer this film or Ang Lee's Hulk?

I own both and imo, Lee's HULK is superior in every aspect.

I am with you Robert. I did not like the Ang Lee Hule at all. I didn't see it in the movies, but blind bought it when it came out on DVD. I was disappointed to say the least.

For me, it just never moved. I thought it was incredibly (no pun intended) slow and took way too long to get going.

Now, I really enjoyed The Incredible Hulk. That definitely moved. Action packed is an understatement, and Ed Norton was great as Bruce Banner. Tim Roth was a little tough to swallow as Emil Blonsky, but I think it was more the way Emil was characterized than the way Roth portrayed him. I think he did very good with what he had. I never once felt bored in this movie or that scenes were drawn out.

This movie was nowhere near as good as Iron Man, but Iron Man knocked it out of the park. The Incredible Hulk was a triple, which, for me, was miles ahead of what Ang Lee's Hulk was.

RAH didn't say he didn't like Lee's Hulk, Just that he was not "comfortable" with it. Perhaps a softer couch might help?

I don't mind these "late" comments. I just bought my own copy a couple weeks ago (but had viewed the BD long before). Unlike Robert, it wasn't because I was busy, rather cheap and waiting for the price to drop.

I like both the Hulks. Ang Lee's was different than the typical comic movie. I actually think it would do somewhat better if it had been released NOW, after some of the darker other realisations. The BD is quite good too.

I was with the Ang Lee Hulk right up until the final battle that followed up the spectacular Hulk rampaging through the desert while destroying military vehicles sequence with an anticlimactic Hulk vs. CGI swirling sludge battle. Were it not for that mis-step, I would probably have liked it better than the more action-oriented re-boot from last summer.
