New Mini - DVD Playback stops...

I got a nice new Mac Mini a couple days ago. Great little machine. I'm still questioning whether there is actually a computer in there, or if Apple has succeeded in creating a dimensional rift.

Anyway, I finally put in a DVD, just to see how it looked on my also new HP w2338h monitor. As it turns out, DVDs play for a few seconds, then the video and audio stop, but the counter continues. I am guessing this is an hdcp issue, but I have no idea what to do about it and a quick google search didn't yield anything.

I am using the mini to dvi adapter the Mini came with. I also got a mini displayport adapter, which I will use in a few days when I have my second x2338h. This monitor has vga and hdmi, so I am using a dvi to hdmi cable.

Any ideas what is the solution?

Re: New Mini - DVD Playback stops...

Careless me. I guess I spoke too soon. I decided to throw in a non-copyguarded disc, and it played fine. So, I went on to some more commercial discs, and they all play fine. Seems I randomly picked a disc DVDPlayer doesn't like right from the start. It was Immortal Beloved. I wonder how many other discs will have problems. I do know DVDPlayer can be very picky, so maybe that is it. I also have Matinee from the DVDUpdate bundle, so maybe it plays movies and is less picky.

BTW, I love playing a DVD and seeing it is only using 15% of the processor power. WooHoo!!! I've been using a 9 year old G4.
