Cutting Cable and Satellite

Thread Starter
I've had it with my Direct TV programming. 150 channels and I watch 3.

Is there any way to stream the free Internet programming for PC'S to my main Plasma TV ?

I have seen many new sites pop up such as Hulu, that offer an alternative.

I do have a Dlink Media center DSM320, but can this access the programming ?

Any help to cut my satellite would be welcomed.

I will be getting Roku as a movie source.

Thanks

Re: Cutting Cable and Satellite

Some of the media plays do have the ability to access different content. Some DVD players can download movies from Netflix. You just have to read the features of each one to find out.

Remember that this is internet content and will be compressed. Blow up a You Tube video to full screen on your PC and see what it looks like. Now imagine that blown up to the size of your plasma. I'm not saying all of the content is like that but some will be.

I think at this point in time for Hulu it's best to hook up a PC to your TV. The content owners made Hulu stop it from working on Boxee, they seem against ways to make Hulu easy to be seen directly on TV. http://www.edn.com/blog/400000040/post/1120041512.html

If mainly you watch TV series, free OTA HDTV + Netflix TV on DVD rental-by-mail is to me the most economical, as long as you are willing to wait until end of season to start watching the DVD when they come out. The Roku will have some of the Netflix TV sooner than that.

Giving up cable/satellite is hard if you enjoy watching sports though.
