James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 4?? - Page 2

I certainly hope they put out volumes 4 through 6 in the next year. I just finally finished watching the last of all of those released on Blu-ray this week and can't wait to get the rest. I may be in the minority but I really enjoyed watching License to Kill and also found The Man With The Golden Gun to be enjoyable again. Both look and sound great on Blu-ray. I even picked up Never Say Never Again and liked it as well even though it's not officially a Bond movie.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 3 (Moonraker/ The World is Not Enough / Goldfinger) [Blu-ray]
James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 1 (Dr. No / Die Another Day / Live and Let Die) [Blu-ray]
James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol.2 (For Your Eyes Only / From Russia with Love / Thunderball) [Blu-ray]

LTK is actually one of my top five favorite Bond flicks.  I think it's absolutely awesome.  The BD is one of my favorites as the a/v is outstanding.

It's been very quiet with news about the rest of the films coming to blu ray. As a Roger Moore fan, I am looking forward to his other 3 films. Diamonds Are Forever, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Living Daylights are also favorites of mine too. Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies are the best of the 4 Pierce ones.

Hopefully there will be some news soon.

I know that they are working on a collector's Edition Quantum of Solace blu ray right now. Could they perhaps release it along with the next wave later in 2009? Are there any bigger titles on MGM's slate for the rest of the year?

It's very puzzling that there has been a lack of news, especially with how quickly they were being released..

We will almost certainly see some titles for the holiday season. Whether all 9 remaining films will be released this year, who can say. I'm particularly anxious for The Spy Who Loved Me, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Live Twice.

I'm very anxious for some news too ... I want to complete this collection so badly.

Of course I will buy them all, but I seriously can't wait for GoldenEye and the rest of the Roger Moore ones (the three of them waiting for release are three of my faves).
I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling we won't see any more blus until the next Bond picture is released theatrically, which probably won't be until 2011.
Yeah, I definitely hope you're wrong.

You'd think that the studio would have eventually released the entire set of films as part of the promotion of QoS release.

One thing that is sure: The remaining 9 films will be released. They've already been done in 1080p, as seen in the excerpts from those films in the documentaries on the other discs.

The completist in me hopes you're right.

I had thought about not buying these at all but I got a very good deal on the first six and have since bought all the rest to date. I hope they release at least 3 more by the end of the year.

With Bond, it's only a matter of time, like any other evergreen catalog title.

I noticed that MGM doesn't seem to have any titles announced / listed past mid September for 2009. Perhaps we will hear some announcements and hopefully more Bond titles soon?

Maybe next year so they can cross-promote them with something? I own three of the original 20. Dr. NO, From Russia with Love, THUNDERBALL and Live and Let Die. I purchased the Connery ones from Amazon Marketplace and the Moore one from Circuit City as they were folding. Live and Let Die was my first cause of the Voodoo guy with the awesome laugh and the Paul McCartney and Wings main song.
Then I'll be purchasing GOLDFINGER next from the Marketplace, the rest and of course MOONRAKER and Die Another Day at the very last.
Damn I really can't wait for You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, GoldenEye, The Living Daylights and the rest.
I own CASINO ROYALE Collector's Edition on DVD, the 3-Discer, and also going to buy the same on Blu-ray. ONLY $12.49 FROM AMAZON!

I also picked up Royale for $12! I am really looking forward to the rest of the Moore films. Diamonds will be great too. The Living Daylights is my favorite of the Dalton films. I plan on picking all of the films up on blu ray. Huge Bond fan.

I wonder if they will issue the new Quantum of Solace SE blu ray later this year or early 2010? At that point they should issue more titles, but no one knows what MGM is up to.

Bond 23 won't be out until 2011. I don't believe they will wait 2 years to issue the rest of the films on blu ray. Especially since they are ready to go and no work will need to be completed on the films? Hopefully they will remaster the documentaries as they did for the first several releases so far...

I wish I knew more and exactly what the plans were for the rest of the films and when to expect them...

I'm watching From Russia With Love on blu ray right now. Amazing picture and wonderful sound!!!!

Damn right!
Aren't they just having a few of the extras in 1080i/p as a bump up? And dammit, what the hell am I going to do about all 4 Volumes of the Ultimate Edition DVD's? I want to keep them mostly because of the nice covers and booklets but wanting to sell them at the same time since I'd put the money towards more Bond on ze Blu.
I hope CASINO ROYALE (Collector's Edition Blu) is going to stay at $12.49 this upcoming week since I want to jump on the chance for this price. Of course I also own the 3-Disc DVD and won't be selling it. It looks too nice.
As for Quantum of Solace, I'm sort of holding off on seeing if it'll get a re-release in the same vein CASINO ROYALE received one prior to OO7 22. As I've stated, I do plan on purchasing every single OO7 film on Blu-ray but I'll be selective about the order in which I purchase them. Since I have more Connery compared to Moore, I think I'll purchase GOLDFINGER next to round off the current Connery on Blu and then For Your Eyes Only for Moores run. License to Kill should be easy since Dalton only made this and The Living Daylights. One of my favourites is of course On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Outstanding score. As for the current Brozzers, I'd buy The World is Not Enough over Die Another Day.
As for the remaining 9 to be released onto Blu, I'd buy the rest of Connerys, Brozzers (Die Another Day would be the very last one to purchase), Dalton and the single Lazenby. Then out of Moore, I'd buy the current titles out now except for MOONRAKER (Cheesy fun but doesn't rank up there) and certainly buy A View to a Kill for the Duran Duran title song and the kick ass Christopher Walken. Of course The Man with the Golden Gun is highly tempting due to the iconaclastic Christopher Lee.
I take it there'll be a Volume 4-6? Of course I've been purchasing them individually and From Russia with Love is the only one of the four I own which doesn't have the slipcover. Odd way in the order of release of the titles chosen. Octopussy would also be fun to own on Blu and INCLUDING The Spy Who Loved Me since the DVD had EE.

Moonraker looks fantastic on blu ray. I'm biased as I am a Roger Moore fan, but it does look quite good. Certainly on par with Dr. No and From Russia With Love blu rays.

For the remastered extras, I believe it's the Making of documentaries about each film, the main trailer and then maybe one or more extras on them. Goldfinger has a new feature exclusive to blu ray about the cars. Pretty cool.

No news from MGM yet. I've heard nothing and there doesn't seem to be any news. MGM doesn't have any blu ray releases after 9/15 for the year. However I do believe the Rocky films are coming in a box set..

MGM is currently prepping a new Quantum of Solace blu ray. I may or may not get that one, depending on the extras..

At the very least MGM should do the next box set and include LTK and Golden Gun in it.  I wonder if the Best Buy exclusive box set of those 2 and Quantum has anything to do with the lack of recent announcements for Bond??

Tim, I'm glad there's someone as antsy as myself in regards to the remaining Bond films.

I'm really looking forward to completing my Roger Moore collection as his era is the one I grew up during.  I want all the remaining films, of course, and I'm really disappointed that there's a possibility they may not be out by the end of '09.

Then again, like you said, if MGM has nothing announced after September, we might be in for one mega holiday announcement.
If I had to guess, I'd say six - not nine - of the films would make it out by year-end. They can't be contemplating waiting until 2011 (when Bond 23 is due); that's too long to wait for a return on their investment to upgrade the films to 1080p.

More than likely, until MGMUA figures out how to get rid of their debt or which studio they will be absorbed by, further BD releases are probably on hold.  It may be awhile before the rest of the unreleased Bonds appear.

Agreed. I'm still hoping some more will come in Q4, but it's not looking good.

What a bummer!  I was holding out hope to complete this collection by the end of '09, but it's looking unlikely, now.

Interesting, though, that MGM (and Fox?) has announced a complete Rocky box set.

Speaking as a more casual Bond fan, I can say that MGM overwhelmed me by releasing so many titles at one time and so frequently that I actually ended up buying none of them.

Looking back at the release dates listed on Amazon, they put 7 titles in October 2008, 5 more in March 2009 and then 2 more (which I think were initially Best Buy exclusvies) in May 2009. Even with a good sale, 14 Blu-rays are going to cost around $200 (and probably more like $225 or $250) and that's probably way more than anyone but the hardcore fan is willing to spend in only 5 months.

As it stands now, I'm sure I'll eventually go back and buy the Connery ones some day but if they had released fewer titles, I would have probably bought them all.

Yeah, I hear ya.  I wouldn't have minded if they were a little more spaced out, either.

But the Bond movies are some of my highest priorities when it comes to Blu-ray, so I got them all on release day.

Right now, it's more for the sake of my OCD that I'm dying to have them completed.

Bring em on

Would MGM also release Casino Royale from 1964? I already own all James Bond movies that there are on Blu-ray and I just want to know when the rest of them will be out. Yes, I even own Never Say Never Again.

It's not looking good for 2009 is it? Still no news. It could be a short time frame for an announcement as it was stated the work on the Bond films as far as restoration and remastering is completed..

I'm as antsy and also frustrated that MGM hasn't announced the other titles or even given an update as to when to expect them.

Agreed, MGM may have bigger problems at this point. On the other hand, it's hard to continue to make $ on your film catalog if you don't continue to release product? Just a thought, I don't have any knowledge on how to run a studio just as MGM struggles with running a studio fiscally responsible??

The remaining James Bond films on blu-ray?

There hasn't been any new releases since April, anybody know when the following films are being released on blu-ray?

You Only Live Twice
Diamonds Are Forever
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
(Since these three films are sort of connected with Blofeld as the main villain, perhaps they're releasing them as a trilogy ala the Star Trek II/III/IV set?)

Spy Who Loved Me (one of the most popular in the series, certainly)

Octopussy
View To A Kill
The Living Daylights
Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies

Marc Foster also mentioned that a two-disc version of Quantum of Solace was in development.
