Futurama returning?!?! - Page 2

Can't imagine that's true. I suspect the cast will be returning. The company just made the decision to resurrect the series - it doesn't follow that they'd want a new cast at this point.

I am not sure how I feel about this. I really want to know more details about the disbute, but I know we will probably never know. If they are offering the actors less money, then I don't blame the actors for refusing to budge. But if the actors are asking for lots more, then I sort of understand why Fox would be hesitant. After all, being on comedy central, this is not going to do as well as a prime time slot on Fox would do.

It is really hard to know how I feel without all the facts.

I will be very angry and disappointed if they can't reach an agreement.

There's no point in feeling anything about this. Like I said, until a comment is made otherwise by certain executive producers and/or voice actors, this is just posturing for contract negotiations just like with the Simpsons and shouldn't be taqken too seriosuly at this point.

There's a Futurama panel tomorrow at the San Diego Comic Con so I'm sure someone will make some statement about the situation (even if it's just "We remain hopeful to work something out").

Just an update, the entire cast has signed for 26 eps..

That link leaves off the last paragraph of the story from The Toronto Star:

"A Fox spokesman, reacting to this story, insisted that only two of the cast have so far signed the deal, but later added that they expect to have the matter resolved by the end of the day."

Sounds good!

Apparently Variety and The Hollywood Reporter lied about the casts salary demands...

Don't have cable: looking forward to DVD releases next Fall! :)

Does anyone know if the new season is for 13 episodes or the 26 that Comedy Central ordered?

Well, tonight's the night. I'm hoping this becomes the one revival that bucks the trend of other series revivals being woefully inferior to the originals.

The first two episodes (the ones they are showing tonight) leaked a few days ago. Word is that they do not dissapoint. And it's not like they've been out of the game for all these years, there were the 4 DTV movies.

Looking forward to the show being back. Twelve episodes this summer, then a holiday special, then another twelve next year and another special. (Comedy Central ordered 26 episodes.)

Some cool preview shots here:

They were pretty decent, I thought.  I wasn't blown away but I'm glad I remembered to watch.

The first episode was a bit weak, but that was to be expected. It was a series relaunch, and they had to tie up a few loose ends.

The second episode was typical Futurama. Full of innuendos, double-entendres, partial nudity, cultural references, and a ludicrous storyline. Yep! They're back all right!

It looks like Leela and Fry will finally hook up, but it might be treated as a "fait accomplit" instead of being drawn out endlessly throughout the series. If they do that, I'll be happy since that means the writing team can concentrate on creating even more ludicrous episodes instead of rehashing the same running gags over and over again.

I loved a couple of the Docs lines - like the Blade Runner joke and having hope, no, not really.

Is it available through any of the streaming sites, like Hulu?

Thanks for the pointer, but I don't have cable, so I have to catch it online (e.g. Hulu) or wait for DVD release :)

First episode was good. 2nd one was definitely classic Futurama. I'm glad it's back.

My daughter was a bit upset by the commercials. She'd never seen the show other than on DVD.

I thought the first two were terrific. The logic of the first one confused me a bit but it was still enjoyable. The second one was even better, and Zapp Brannigan is always welcome in this show.

Here's to another 10 seasons!

I've watched the first one again. The logic makes more sense the second time around.

What Logic?

And, your applying logic to this show?

Like every show, it has its own standards of what can and cannot occur within the context of the series.

Sure, but what logic was Sam and Joe referring to specificaly, i didn't see any logic problems.

If Sam and I were referring to the same thing, just being able to follow what actually happened with Fry and Leela as explained at the end. It was a little hard to follow the first time though because it's conveyed so quickly.

Exactly. I was also trying to say that the flashbacks and "present" got a bit jumbled for me. Maybe they should use the "flashback music cue" from Lost.

The EyePhone episode's timing couldn't have been any better! And it was surprisingly accurate!
