Dead Like Me, back from the dead?

Ellen Muth (assuming it really is Ellen Muth) tweeted this earlier today:

Quote:
We're looking in to do another season of dlm! Not sure who the director will be if it happens.

Earlier, someone asked her, "Any chance the show will be back??," to which she replied, "there's a small chance. We're still waiting."

Hmm! Now, the first quote does make it sound like she may mean a new movie and that "season" may be a mistake. After all, a new season would have more than one director. But, that's all there is right now.

I've just started watching DLM: TOS () and it's what I look forward to all day now. Just incredible. I know people were not thrilled with the movie, but I'll reserve judgment until I've seen it myself (and, I may have to check out of my own thread until I am caught up and know I can't be spoiled; I don't want to be caught up, since it'll mean I'll have seen it all ).

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the movie yet. Losing Mandy Patinkin was perhaps inevitable since he never sticks with any one project for very long. But recasting Daisy Adair is just unforgivable.

Since Laura Harris's show, "Women's Murder Club", got cancelled I'm hoping they could bring her back for whatever direction they take in the future.

Definitely one of the all time great shows. Bryan Fuller likes to trash season two; while it's definitely not up to the first season's standards, it's still far above 90 percent of what's out there. Fuller's pilot is one of the best things to air on television, period, but I think I actually liked John Masius's vision for the show more; it's less whimsical and more routed in the painful realities of life.

What marks the switch? I've enjoyed it all so far, but I think A Cook really took things up a notch. I believe that was a Masius-penned ep.

Re: Dead Like Me, back from the dead?

Fuller had personality conflicts with the people at MGM Television (which produced the show) from the very beginning. He was the showrunner for the first five episodes and a significant creative force for the first 14 episodes I believe; I think "Rest in Peace" was the last episode he was directly involved in.

The DVD of "Dead Like Me" has the original pilot, which hinted at George's father being gay. Fuller really pushed that storyline, and MGM wanted nothing to do with it. The bad blood was so bad that Fuller waged a campaign to stop Sci-Fi from picking up the show because MGM would have been the production studio on it. I'm not sure how the DVD movie came about, since that was MGM too.

Re: Dead Like Me, back from the dead?

I suppose I have that pilot, since I have the complete series set. I haven't looked at the extras yet. I get the impression that they instead went with the dad running around with his female students. In fact, George may have even stated that directly in the aired pilot, but I'm not sure. My main interest in George's dad is the idea of a marriage/family that was on the verge of collapse and how a daughter's death can either destroy it completely or save it. A secret gay lifestyle would only muddy that, but it's not my issue as it is Fuller's. I can only say I'm enjoying the show as it is and hope that continues after his involvement is through.
