A question about itunes and a question about ipod

These are just minor annoyances, but I would like to fix them. All input appreciated.

1. I have a 60GB classic ipod loaded with a large number of tunes. When I use the scroll wheel to scroll through the list of artists, sometimes a small window will open up with the current letter within. When this happens, scrolling is much faster as I zip through, say, R then S then T to find my George Thorogood tunes. Other times, the little window will not appear and it takes me forever to scroll from A to T. The appearance of the speed-scrolling window seems to be totally random; I cannot figure how to intentionally make it open up.

2. This just started happening. itunes will open up - full screen - totally randomly while I'm using the computer. The application was previously closed (not just minimized); it just opens itself up whenever it wants to. I am using Windows Vista, and I have not installed or updated any new software recently.

Thanks!

Jon

Re: A question about itunes and a question about ipod

1) I've found that it happens when I am scrolling quickly and continuously. If you stop for a second it won't appear. If you are not scrolling continuously, it won't appear. You have to be zipping along for the turbo to engage.

2) I don't know anything about Vista. Check preferences for a software updater? Are you clicking a link to a media file that would then launch iTunes?

Use the SEARCH option instead of scrolling.

That's sort of what I thought, but it doesn't seem to work consistently. I'll mess with it some more to see if I can get the touch.

I honestly didn't know there was a search function. I'll check that out.

Search on a clickwheel is like (or worse than) using a game controller to type emails..

Only other solution is to use a Touch or iPhone.

Other than that, SEARCH is still better than trying to turbo scroll, if you can't get the letters up.
