Come to the historic Million Dollar Theatre in downtown LA for a 2:30 p.m. screening of Houdini. Magician Curtis Lovell II will be attempting Houdini's famous water torture stunt, and Tony Curtis will be there to put the handcuffs on him.

Have dinner at the Los Angeles Athletic Club with Tony Curtis and get a signed copy of his book, American Prince.

Then, at 7:30 p.m., return to the Million Dollar for the 50th anniversary screening of Some Like It Hot.

Presented by the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival and the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation.

Thanks for the info, Don. I was watching Blade Runner last week and noticed that the Million Dollar Theater was in the background in a scene with Pris and Sebastien.

Yes, being in Blade Runner is one of its many claims to fame. It sits directly across the street from the Bradbury building, where they shot around the entrance and inside. The lobby of that building is usually open during the day for visitors to wander in and have a look around and is well worth a visit.

Apparently Houdini performed at the Million Dollar and was a member of the LA Athletic Club where the dinner is being held.

If anyone is interested in touring the old theaters downtown, the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation gets together monthly. These are normally free and open to the public, but the next one will be for members only, so join now. They have Powerpoint presentations and docent-led tours. You can get info on their Facebook page, or their home page Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation.

Tony turned out to be very funny, warm and genuine. We had a good turnout. If you're on Facebook, I've posted some photos from the event on the LAHTF's fan page.
