Which subwoofer to upgrade too.

Thread Starter
I have my home theater in 19x15 family room with 9 ft cielings.

I have a current 6.1 setup using Energy Take Classic 5.1 system (purchased in 2001) with an Energy C-R100 surround speaker (purchased in 2008) acting as my rear surround speaker.

I am looking to upgrade my subwoofer to a 10" sub.

Which subwoofer would you recommend under the $500 budget? Also what sort of calibration cd would you recommend to calibrate the sub and speakers?

I also use a Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver to handle all my sound in this system.

Either SVS or Elemental Designs. In fact, eD has a 12" sub that is well under your $500 budget.

I use the MCACC calibration system built into my Pioneer and confirm it with Video Essentials as a Radio Shack SPL meter. I also use a Behringer Feedback Destroyer to EQ my sub flat down to 17hz.

Check these out:

SVSound - Box Subwoofers

If you can bump the budget up $70:

SVSound - Cylinder Subwoofers

You can use Audyssey (built into your AVR) with your 605 to setup your speakers.

SVS... I might be biased but... They are fantastic subs!
