Roy Scheider (All That Jazz, The Rainmaker) stars in this intense action thriller as a courageous police officer pilot battling government fanatics planning to misuse an experimental attack helicopter. Chosen to test BLUE THUNDER, Frank Murphy (Scheider) is amazed by the high-speed, high-tech chopper. It can see through walls, record a whisper or level a city block. Distrusting the military mentality behind BLUE THUNDER, Murphy and his partner Lymangood (Daniel Stern) soon discover that the remarkable craft is slated for use as the ultimate weapon in surveillance and crowd control. Jeopardized after being discovered by sinister Colonel Cochrane (Malcolm McDowell), Murphy flies BLUE THUNDER against military aircraft in a spellbinding contest over Los Angeles.

STARMAN – Available August 11
Director John Carpenter (Christine, Ghost of Mars) presents a romantic science fiction odyssey starring Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, The Fisher King) as an innocent alien from a distant planet who learns what it means to be a man in love. When his spacecraft is shot down over Wisconsin, Starman (Bridges) arrives at the remote cabin of a distraught young widow, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and clones the form of her dead husband. The alien convinces Jenny to drive him to Arizona, explaining that if he isn't picked up by his mothership in three days, he'll die. Hot on their trail are government agents, intent on capturing the alien, dead or alive. En route, Starman demonstrates the power of universal love, while Jenny rediscovers her human feelings for passion.

ST. ELMOS FIRE – Available August 11
Seven friends, recent college graduates, are searching for a place in the real world, as they face issues of career and commitment. Leslie and Alec (Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson) try to save a crumbling romance. Wendy (Mare Winningham), a shy virgin, hides a love for Billy (Rob Lowe), a reluctant father/husband still searching for goals. Kevin (Andrew McCarthy) is a cynical writer who scorns love until he realizes he's in love with his best friend's girl. Kirbo (Emilio Estevez), a law student, obsessively pursues an older woman. The beautiful, neurotic Jules (Demi Moore) paints a poignant picture of life in the fast lane. Against the backdrop of St. Elmo's, their local hangout, they save, betray and love one another as only the closest of friends can.

Blu-ray release includes the following bonus features:

ABOUT LAST NIGHT – Available August 11
Rob Lowe doesn't want to get serious. Demi Moore doesn't want to get used. Together, they're an unforgettable couple in the sexy, contemporary comedy, ABOUT LAST NIGHT... After drinks at a favorite Chicago hang-out, Danny Martin (Lowe) and Debbie Sullivan (Moore) head to Danny's place to indulge in the predictable single's quest: the one-night stand. Their affair is casual, sensual, and supposedly over until something surprising happens: they want to see each other again. It's the start of an intense relationship that irritates Danny's rowdy best friend (James Belushi) and astounds Debbie's cynical buddy/roomie (Elizabeth Perkins), who do everything possible to break them up. But Danny and Debbie wind up living together and amidst the daily drudge of domestic life, they begin to realize that making love is easy, saying I love you is more difficult, and being in love the hardest of all. Based on David Mamet's Obie Award-winning play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, ABOUT LAST NIGHT... is an insightful, provocative and often funny look at romance in the '80s.

Blu-ray release includes the following bonus features:
· Original Making-Of Featurette
· Ed Zwick and Rob Lowe in Conversation

GO – Available August 18
Ronna (Sara Polly) needs to make some extra cash. Simon (Desmond Askew) wants to escape to Vegas for the weekend. Adam (Scott Wolf) and Zack (Jay Mohr) want to stay out of trouble. But it's not just another night in the life of these unusual characters. They're about to embark on a wild ride that won't end until the sun comes up.
· Commentary with Director Doug Liman & Editor Stephen Mirrione
· Making of Featurette
· Music Videos

Aersome to hear Go will be coming out.

"It's not Amway...it's Confederated Products...It's a different company...It's a different quality of product."

The line [and delivery] that cemented William Fichtner as one of my favorite character actors.

Not that it's surprising but Sony couldn't go the extra mile (more like an inch) and include the Carpenter and Bridges commentary on Starman from the R2 DVD for this release.

No features are indicated for Starman. I'd say it's a little too early to automatically assume the Carpenter/Bridges commentary isn't included, even if this is slated for August 11. It's a movie worth picking up regardless, given how well Sony's been handling film material on BD.

If none of the other titles had features listed, I'd say that maybe there's a chance but since the rest of the titles have features listed, it doesn't look good. That being said, I'd love to be wrong and will give a big thumbs up to Sony if they do include it.

Great news! I'm definitely in for Starman and Go. I'll probably Netflix the rest.

I think the cover art that was posted at another website (DVDempire.com) for About Last Night is AWFUL! But the UK release is the cooler Poster artwork look. the St Elmos Fire cover is decent, Starman was hmmm ok I like the older artowkr more so and Go haven't seen yet.

II am excited to buy GO for sure. That film surprised me at how much fun it was. Sarah Polley is so funny, love her carrying the register to the front check out lanes at the end of the film. It is a small thing but so real.

I bought BLUE THUNDER, STARMAN, ABOUT LAST NIGHT and GO at FYE to day.  Someone turned in new sealed copies and they sold them as used.  Watched ABOUT LAST NIGHT which held up quite well over 22 years.  I found the PQ to be decent.  I never had a very good DVD release so I am glad they remastered it for Blu ray.  Demi Moore really was amazing in the film.  I put on the others to see how they looked.  They all looked quite good, STARMAN from what I saw looked terrific.  I passed on ST. ELMO'S which they also had because I never cared for it.

I am jealous I want GO on BD so bad!

I'tll be interesting to see what kind of reviews the "Blue Thunder" disc will get - I remember that movie being very grainy in the theatre in 1983.
I skimmed through the disc a bit and did not see noticable grain.  I'm hoping to watch it all the way sometime this week.

Hmmm.....so what is this a two week plus bump from the street date?

I read about that happening with the Spinal Tap BD also, but that was a case where the street date changed and the retailer put it out on the shelves anyway.
