Help choosing free system

Hello all and forgive my newbie-ness....as if thats a real word. I have an issue. My GF has a new house and the living room has very hard acoustics....stained concrete floor, windows and the room is 12 x 14. She was offered her coice of two systems from her sister at Sony as a housewarming present. Her TV is the Sony Bravia 46" LCD KDL-46V2500. The two systems are (and I realize neither are top of the line but hey, its a gift)
DAV-X10 2.1 or the DAV-HDX277WC 5.1. She will use her cable/dvr and possibly her PS3. Thats it. If you HAD TO, which system would you go with and why? How would you connect everything? Can either of these do HD sound as well either during DVD mode or TV mode?
She likes the simplicity of the DAV-X10 but likes the S-AIR feature of the 277WC
Thanks all for your input in advance; Im ignorant on AV issues.

The 5.1 system because it will give you full surround sound. It also has an auto calibration routine.

Speaker wire and the proper interconnect cables. You asked. Without any more details of the other equipment involved, this is as accurate as I can get.

No. It only plays regular DVD's and HD sound isn't available on any TV broadcast.

Welcome to the forum. Stick around and ask more questions. But a little advice, this section is for people who are building dedicated rooms or have large projects like DIY speakers and subwoofers. Your question would have been better suited for the Basics area.

I did forget to suggest Monoprice for all of your cable needs. I have no monetary interest in the company but I have purchased from them numerous times with some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. And they have great prices as well. So if you do need an HDMI cable or two to connect your system and other sources to the TV, then check out their site.
