(June 1, 2009) – Hilary Duff (A Cinderella Story, next: Stay Cool) leads an all-star cast in a touching comedy about a group of adolescent social-misfits exploring the challenges of life and love in What Goes Up, debuting on DVD June 16 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. In the tradition of Juno and Little Miss Sunshine, the film follows a big city journalist who heads to a small New Hampshire town on assignment. He calls on an old friend who lives there only to find out he has died days prior to abandoning a class of eccentric teens. Soon after, he inherits the adolescents who embrace him as they help one another in their search to bring meaning to their lives. SYNOPSIS
What Goes Up takes a comedic look at life, love and all the chaos in between. When a group of teenage social misfits befriend jaded journalist Campbell Babbitt (Coogan), who’s on assignment in their small New Hampshire town, they each find themselves searching for meaning and truth in their crazy, mixed-up lives. But as Babbitt gets to know these eccentric kids better—Lucy (Duff) in particular—their hidden secrets begin to rise to the surface, changing each other’s lives forever.
What Goes Up was directed by Jonathan Glatzer and written by Jonathan Glatzer and Robert Lawson.
