Letters "BF" on wall plate - what does it mean?

I'm not exactly sure where to post this but I recently moved into a new place and each bedroom has a coax and phone wall plate.

There's a photo of the wall plate. I know the top coax connection is for cable, the top rj-11 is for phone, and the bottom rj-45 is cat5e, .... But what is the bottom coax for that is labeled "BF" ?

All of the wall plates in all rooms have this.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Letters "BF" on wall plate - what does it mean?

I doubt the "bf" is any kind of industry standard abbreviation. It is probably shorthand that the previous owner came up with to describe whatever the outlets were used for. Homes that are wired for both cable and sattelite would normally have two sets of wires ending in "F" connectors, as would those with a roof antenna plus cable or satellite. Connect a TV to it and see what comes out.

Somewhere, there must be a place where the "other end" of all these wires ends up. Look around, and see if you can find a cable/antenna amp/splitter, a network router (or at least a place with a bunch of cat 5e wires that could plug into a router) and incoming phone line.

There might be something there that would tell you what the BF is.

'cause it probably isn't:
Burger and Fries
BoyFriend
Bundled Fiberoptic
Basso-proFundo
Belch & (censored)art
Balogna Filter (coulda used that on this post, eh?)

My guess is "Broadcast Feed" which would be an antenna for local stations and radio.

Hmmm... I should probably fish around in the attic and look for an antenna.

Well, that certainly makes sense. I still prefer some of Clinton's guesses, though.
