Agree completely. And like most of McCullough's books, it is well worth the effort.
And it's safe to say there was the usual "compressing" of facts to squeeze the events into the allotted time of the broadcast drama: for example, Abigail Adams didn't really meet Henry Knox in the front yard of the Adams home during his historic march from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston.
I loved the Adams series, too. Anyone new to it should be sure to check out the bonus feature on the "making of" to see just how incredible the CGI was used to help create the illusion of 18th century life. Remarkable.
