Panasonic THX mode

Thread Starter
I just got a Panasonic G10 plasma display. I went into the settings to turn down the contrast and brightness and while doing so I looked at the THX mode settings. The contrast in THX mode is 100. Although its nowhere near as bright as the "vivid" setting (which is also at 100) the fact that its at 100 doesn't seem right. Is it safe to run contrast that high on a new plasma? I plan to use the THX mode for movie viewing, should I wait till after the 100 hr break-in period to do so? I realize that there is controversy over whether or not a break in period is even necessary but I'm not concerned with that issue here.
Thanks

Re: Panasonic THX mode

Set the contrast based on the ability not to clip whites (wash out whites).

2ndary considerations is eye fatigue and color shifting.

Re: Panasonic THX mode

Greetings

If the criteria for setting contrast is met with contrast at 100 ... then that is where it stays. Master contrast is set internally anyway. 100 is merely a placeholder number. Can be anything.
