Dish network vip222k remote problem

I have an interesting problem with my remote. From day 1 the remote would only work intermittantly. Got new receiver and new remotes. Same problem. Now, to work around it , I have to have a picture with average to light screen then the remote is fine. If the screen is dark or black , the remote won't work. I sometimes switch to over the air for a picture light enough for the remote to bring up the guide, then go back and it is fine ,because the guide screen is light colored. It is a 46in Samsung LCD, you can also bypass the problem by holding the remote up to the IR window on the receiver. Again , as long as the picture is light colored it works great, If I put the TV on energy saving mode of "med" or "high".....NO WORK....anybody else got this problem? No, new batteries don't help....Also changed remote addresses.........John

What kind of lights do you have in the room? Is the remote RF or IR?

Nite or day , lights or no lights, it works the same...Remote #1 is IR....I know if I get the RF change over kit that will fix my problem...Must be a Samsung TV thing, but I would expect less light emitting from the screen to be better not worse?? I tried removing all the pictures off the opposite wall, no diff...thanks, John

Re: Dish network vip222k remote problem

Rather than getting the RF kit, get a universal remote. Buy a Harmony from Wal-Mart and give it a try.
