Denon 1709, Onkyo SR507 or ?

My HK Avr 20 recently decided to not want to turn on, so I am in the market for a new AVR. I am basically looking for a decent low priced replacement. without driving myself crazy browsing the net I came up with these two based on my price range:

Denon 1709
Onkyo SR507

So I figured I would join this forum to get some expert opinions and answers to my questions.

Will it be a problem if I use my antique of a surround system a Cambridge Soundworks ensemble II surround system with one of these or any new receiver?

Are these receivers adequate for a living room approx. 17x20?

And when i do upgrade the speakers would a Paradigm Cinema 70 CT System fit the bill for a room that size?

The system is primarily used for the basic movies and a combination of old school rock and classical music.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Denon 1709, Onkyo SR507 or ?

Isn't the Denon 1709 more comparable to the Onkyo 607 in features and price?

Definately the Denon 1709 vs the Onkyo 507 (10 lbs difference between the two).

Now between the 1709 and the 607... flip a coin and live with the result

As for if this is adequate for your room size, 17x20 is huge but either machine should be "adequate".
