WARNER HOME VIDEO RELEASES TWO FULL-LENGTH SCOOBY-DOO FILMS FOR ONE GREAT PRICE

SCOOBY-DOO MEETS BATMAN AND
SCOOBY-DOO! MEETS THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS
AVAILABLE ON DVD AUGUST 11, 2009

BURBANK, CA (May 14, 2009) – What happens when the Caped Crusader and one of the most famous basketball teams of all time meet Scooby-Doo? A delightful, animated double feature comprised of Scooby-Doo Meets Batman and Scooby-Doo! Meets the Harlem Globetrotters. Priced at $14.97 (SRP) this entertaining movie combination will be released by Warner Home Video (WHV) on August 11, 2009.

The most legendary names in crime-fighting history, Batman and Robin, join forces with Scooby-Doo and the Mystery, Inc. gang in Scooby-Doo Meets Batman. The action begins as The Joker and The Penguin try to cash in on a crooked counterfeiting scheme only to be foiled by the trio of Batman, Robin and Scooby-Doo! The relentless Joker and Penguin, however, return a second time and try to steal a flying suit from Professor Flakey. Scooby-Doo and the gang prove that with a little help from Batman, they have what it takes to put the scoundrels in their place!

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery, Inc. gang score big thrills when they team up with the legendary Harlem Globetrotters in two hilarious action-packed mystery adventures featured on Scooby-Doo! Meets the Harlem Globetrotters. On a visit to a quaint New England town, the gang is spooked by close encounters with the ghost of Paul Revere and a fire-spouting sea serpent. But it’s a whole new ballgame when the kids get a mystery-solving assist from their pals: The Fabulous Harlem Globetrotters. Afterwards, the Globetrotters and the Mystery, Inc. crew are ship-napped to a creepy island full of ghostly frights – where Scooby-Doo and the gang again join forces with the wisecracking hoopsters for some slam-dunk crook-busting fun.

Scooby-Doo Meets Batman and Scooby-Doo! Meets the Harlem Globetrotters originally aired on television as part of The New Scooby-Doo Movies, which premiered on CBS in 1972. The only hour-long Scooby-Doo series, the program ran for two seasons and yielded 24 episodes.

“Scooby-Doo Double Feature offers consumers a chance to watch some of their all-time favorite cartoon characters, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and the Mystery Inc. gang, as they are paired up with some of the most iconic characters in pop culture history,” said Amit

Desai, WHV Vice President, Family, Animation and Sports Marketing. He added, “To date, DVD singles of these two films have sold well over 920,000 units combined. We are pleased that we are now able to offer consumers these two very popular titles for the price of one.”

Re: WHV Press Release: Scooby Doo Meets Batman and Scooby Doo! Meets Harlem Globetrotters

Is there some reason they haven't released the whole series yet?

Re: WHV Press Release: Scooby Doo Meets Batman and Scooby Doo! Meets Harlem Globetrotters

Well, the box set of Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies is about as close as we're going to get. The handful they left out were due to rights issues with those particular personalities.

That makes sense, but leaving out the crossover episodes like the one with Josie and The Pussycats is puzzling.

did you know that none of the Harlem Globetrotters receive royalties for "appearing" in these Scooby Doo specials because it was considered publicity.

I hope they got something for their own HB cartoon! Not to mention that Futurama episode.
