Hey guys, I will use the projector to watch DVD, bluerays, etc. Which one is the best bang for the buck? Which brand should I go after? Optoma? Sony? Panasonic? Epson?

Thanks!!!

Then you have a lot of homework to do. I recommend Projectorreviews.com and Projectorcentral.com for some great info and reviews.

Re: which projector for 3k budget?

I absolutely love my BenQ W20000, it throws a beautiful picture, great colors, very sharp, acceptable black levels (IMO). 3 year warranty. Fan noise is pretty decent, I don't notice it and quietest of the 4 projectors I've had (Infocus X1, 4805, Samsung AE-710, and the current BenQ W 20000)

When I bought it last year, I was thinking of going LCD for the first time because of the strides that technology has made the past few years, but I got an unbelieveable deal that I couldn't pass up so stuck with DLP. However, even though I find the black levels acceptable, the newer LCDs I think are supposed to be better if that's important for you. The top 3 at the time I purchased last year were the Panasonic AE 3000, Epson 6500 (I think, whatever the newest one is), and the Sharp 3000 (again, I think that's the model number.)

I'd check those out. My vote goes to the BenQ because I'm finally at the point where I'm not looking to upgrade any time soon which took me 4 projectors to finally feel that way.

I am going with the Epson hc6100. You can get it at hhgregg now for $1799 and add a warranty for 5 yes that includes even free bulb replacements. They usually run $300 each. It is an LCD 3 chip tech. For the money I have chosen it. Hope that helps. Chris
