I recently purchased the pioneer VSX-03THX and have been very happy with it. I have owned it for a few months now and have had no complaints. The sound is very clear and even when cranked its distortion free. The volume I turn to about 70% of it’s spectrum for music concerts especially. My IPod plugs into the front and also has on screen display to my 50” plasma, cool especially at parties. The price I paid was $800.00 Canadian funds here in Calgary. The retailer even came over and set it up for that price. Get a decent pair of speakers and you won’t be sorry. This is the first Elite from Pioneer I have and bought without reviewing it, just listening to it in a sound room. Definitely recommend.

Re: Pioneer Elite VSX-03TXH
I agree. I just got my VSX-03 last week and I'm still tweaking it. This is a fun receiver to tweak, not to mention how awesome the sound is. This is truly some of the best sounding home theater I've heard in this class, and the receiver is amazing. As you said - at loud volumes, it has no problems whatsoever. The DSP fields alone are enough to keep you busy. I was originally going to buy the SC-05, but I saw no need to after comparing the two, and the price difference.I've owned mostly Denon equipment over the years, and was a little skeptical switching to Pioneer Elite, but after buying this, and purchasing one of the Elite DVD players, I'm in sonic heaven all the way around. I use the Elite DVD player for my music, and the Oppo 981 for my video. Absolutely amazing - the VSX makes these machines come alive like never before.
