Termites!

I found a nest in your back yard and just a day or two ago, I found one of our cats playing with one. I'm pretty sure they're termites and not ants. Some of them have wings (I know some ants do also).

We've got Terminex. Should I call them or wait for the next scheduled inspection? Seems like I need to call them to get on top of this. Are they going to try to sell me a fancy eradication program?

Advice and information is welcomed.

I think I'd call them even if it costs a little for an unscheduled service call. If it is termites and they're easy to get to they might be able to get rid of them before they get to your house.

As someone who has had termites IN the house, there's no such thing as a fancy eradication program once they start munching on your 2x4s.

I believe termites generally nest underground (and supposedly a queen is a rare find and can be sold for $$) and they can be something like 100 yards from the main nest. I had them in my old place. They will build tube like mud tunnels into the house. There are carpenter ants too. In some jurisdictions some of the places that treat termite infestations in houses require a separate license to treat certain things outdoors and some of the companies may not do that.
