need help with my brand new set-up

Thread Starter
i'm looking at building a brand new speaker set-up for a small/medium size room. i'm also pretty picky about how my set-ups normally sound. i already own a set of logitech z-5500 for my computer and a pair of sennheiser 595 headphones. now i want to make a home theater(ish) system. i'm looking to build this 1 piece at a time hopefully. i'm not sure how much i want to spend, but i want quality-sounding, quality-built speakers and equipment.

so far i have:

klipsch - icon 5-1/4" bookshelf speakers (2)
mirage - omni series 8" 400-watt powered sub
pioneer - 550w 5.1 receiver

i am pretty new at the home theater speakers so any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have also been told to start with klipsch rb-81s, but those may be a little more than i am willing to pay.

Re: need help with my brand new set-up

Amazon.com: Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2-Channel A/V Surround Home Theater Receiver (Black): Audio & Video
and
SVSound - Complete Systems
Add a blu ray player, and you'll be set...........

Re: need help with my brand new set-up

check the links here for some good info.

don't take anyone's word for what sounds good. listen, even if it's to things you won't buy. it'll give you a basis for comparison when you do. get a center speaker that matches your fronts.

that's my advice. enjoy.
