Subwoofer question

Thread Starter
I bought a new JVC surround sound receiver to replace a RCA home theater receiver. The new receiver only has an RCA connection output for the subwoofer. Nothing to supply power to the sub. The old receiver connects the subwoofer by way of a "one touch" bare wire connection and a small white 2 prong connection plug-in that's like the tiny plug on a cordless phone battery. I assume the latter is the power supply for the sub.
Will I now have to buy a new sub with it's own power supply?
I've plugged the old sub in with one of the satellite speakers and sharing that connection with partial function from the sub. But I know the sub is not being maximized since it's under powered.

Re: Subwoofer question

You either need an amp for your current sub or you need a new sub. Your old setup had the amp built in for the sub. Non HTiB systems do not.

Be very careful plugging the sub in with other speakers... You could easily ruin your new receiver.
