Should I exchange a Yamaha RX-V465 for a Panasonic SA-BX500?

I am within my return period on the Yamaha, and I saw that the $800 Panny is now on sale for $299!

I like the Yamaha fine, but would the Panny be a steal/upgrade?

I'm running:

-Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray
-XBox 360
-Panasonic TH-50px60u
-Diva Swans--4.1/c3/2.1 5 speakers

All HDMI--no need for legacy, and i do not foresee needing 7.1.

Should i do the return, or stand pat?

thanks!

I don't own either but am looking at purchasing the Yammy this week. A quick search turned up this review: Panasonic SA-BX500 AV receiver reviews - CNET Reviews .

I'm not a big Cnet fan but the Panny doesn't like as nice as the Yammy. The choice is yours though.

Hope that helps!

I doubt the Panny is any great shakes despite its relatively high MSRP(?). If you're already happy w/ the Yammy, probably just stick w/ it (unless you know something about the Panny that you *really* want that is not provided by the Yammy).

Otherwise, you're probably better off just looking at something higher up from Yamaha or Onkyo instead. I've never heard particularly good things about Panny's audio gear (nor Technics, their former audio-only brand, though some of their stuff was decent enough for mainstream audio gear).

No! No! No! Don't do it! Keep the Yamaha. Forget the high Panasonic MSRP. You would be getting a $299 receiver for $299. I know it uses a digital amp and weight isn't the only thing to look at but the BX-500 only weights 11 lbs! Panasonic can do a whole lot better. Or maybe they should just stick to video.
