I have two Onkyo receivers. What I want to do is connect them together, so that I have my speakers running out of the main receiver; then connect it to a second receiver so that I can listen to headphones (at the same time). [I am hard of hearing, and when I plug in head phones, it cuts off the speakers, so other people in the room can hear anything; so I am trying to rig two receivers to run the main receiver normally, connect it to a second receiver and use the head phone jack out of the second receiver. Ideas how to do that? On the back of the main receiver there are pre-amp outs for: "front", "center", "back" [all, I assume, are pre-amp outs for surround sound] and if I use one of the pre-amp outs [like "front"], where on the second receiver do I plug it into?

Re: Connecting two receivers problem
You can connect the L and R front pre-outs on the main receiver to a CD input on the secondary receiver. Any input on the secondary receiver except phono will work. Does your main receiver have a zone 2 option? That would be a better option. You can go from zone 2 pre out on the main receiver to the cd input on the secondary receiver.

Re: Connecting two receivers problem
My father uses wireless headphones connected to one of the many line outputs on the back of his receiver. The volume of the headphones is completely independent of the volume on the receiver.-Robert

Re: Connecting two receivers problem
Don't use the pre-outs, or the volume to the headphones will change every time you change the volume to the speakers. The zone 2 idea is best, if available.Re: Connecting two receivers problem
My main receiver has a "Zone 2 Line Out", which appears to be RCA plugs. I then turned on "Z2" on the main receiver, and plugged the Z2 out into the CD Input on the second receiver. I set the 2nd receiver to CD. I plugged in the headphones. Nothing! So, I plugged the lines from Z2 into every input known to man on the 2nd receiver. Nothing. I made sure that Zone 2 on the main receiver was set for my same output as as my source. Nothing. I know that it is probably one little button or switch, but I can't figure it out. [I have wireless headphones, with both headphone and RCA inputs, and I tried plugging the RCA into the main receiver also, rather than the "headphone" jack, and bypass the 2nd receiver altogether, but I can't figure out what output jacks to use or how to set the main receiver to output to those jacks. I am at a loss.
