Looks quite interesting.

Re: District 9

Saw this preview before Wolverine. I was stunned. That's the best preview experience since Dark Knight.

I'm surprised this is the first preview, first word on this and it opens in just a few months. Is it an intentional effort to keep info under control?

And I'm being vague on purpose: don't want to spoil the preview for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Re: District 9

I'm thinking that this is the dark horse candidate of the summer. With all the big tentpoles this year, expect to see District 9 become one of the most remembered films of 2009.

Re: District 9

I have not heard one bit of info on this film. I have to say, I'm intrigued.

Re: District 9

Interesting, I sort of get a Half-Life vibe from it, but at the same time get a disturbingly "Signs-ish" vibe as well (which I don't really consider a good thing). Depending on what the actual story is and its execution it could be great, but I find its almost-viral marketing a bit amateurish compared with the kinds of things we get from projects like Lost and Cloverfield.

Interesting.

Re: District 9

We caught the trailer for this just before Star Trek and the bass in the sound track was massive. I've not heard anything like it before.

The short film that started this movie:

Re: District 9

Looks like it might be interesting. Basically looks like an exploration of the old South African Apartheid system through the use of elements of Science Fiction.

Re: District 9

^^^ I kind of got the same vibe.. funny you should mention that. I want to see it thou. Looks interesting!

Re: District 9

If anyone is interested, here's the YouTube link to Neill Blomkamp's short film of which District 9 is apparently (quite obviously actually) an expansion.

Re: District 9

I too was intrigued by the trailer I saw attached to X-Men Origins: Wolverine this weekend. It doesn't look like your typical summer fare, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Check out the new trailer for District 9 produced by Peter Jackson (Releases August 14, 2009)

Looks sweet in my opinion.  Word around the web is that this movie is a test to see if Neill Blomkamp can direct the high anticipated Halo movie.

Ok, that trailer is waaaaay different than the first one.
Well, I'm still interested, but not as intrigued as before.  I hope it turns out more original than that trailer made it seem.

It was pretty clear from the effect shots in the original trailer/teaser (namely the ship, but mostly the alien shot) that this was going to have some decent visuals.  This trailer does give it a far more "commercial" feel than the original one did, which was almost documentary-esque in its look - which is not really strange knowing the original short Blomkamp made from which this is drawn.

I was hoping it had a bit more of a "raw" look and feel to it, so that it was almost eerily and disturbingly "real" in how it feels it could be happening somewhere.  Based on the original short I'm still hopeful there's a major underlying thematic component to it and it's not nearly the action film this almost makes it appear to be, particularly since it looks like all of the CG/action shots in the trailer are from, at most, two or three scenes.

At least we don't have long to wait to see.  It's nice to get some lesser known and a bit less studio-driven sci-fi regardless.

Yeah!  I do believe that this action movie will get a wonderful box office

after all of the garbage we have seen this year if your prediction pans out you deserve a no-prize.

i felt the same way when i saw the first trailer.  i have been telling anyone that is into movies like me that i think this will be the sleeper hit of the summer.

That trailer put a completely different feel to the movie... I liked the rough look of the first trailer....  I am still in thou!

Saw the new trailer today attached to Bruno and loved it.  I am officially pumped for this flick.

Saw a commercial on tv over the weekend that played sorta like the Pre-crime ad in Minority Report.
I thought that first "teaser" trailer had a Starship Troopers feel to it, but it has been so long since I've seen ST, I can't recall exactly why...weren't there "bug" related TV spots/ad throughout?  Damn C.R.S...

Saw the preview before Bruno. This will either be really good or terrible.

I love the sudden trend of new members with one post that also just happen to have links to sell some junk in their signature.

Yeah, I hate that too.

Early impressions of District 9

"Gripping, satirical, and gory, District 9 was shockingly good."

I'm really looking forward to this after only learning about this a few weeks ago.

This looks REALLY interesting, and I'm hoping to know little more than I do from the trailer when I see it (which is hard these days). And if it only cost $30M, better still.

Oh, and be sure to watch THE SNUGGIE KILLER on youtube - see link below!
