HTPC for dummies?

Thread Starter
Hey all. I am just getting into HTPC. The big reason I am starting this is because I want to be able to watch Hulu.com on my TV. I'm sure there are many many more reason than that. but I will have a ceratin satisfaction when I finally will be able to give Comcast the middle finger.

Anyway, since I know almost nothing about HTPC and how to set one up can someone give me a good site I can go to so that I can learn the basic on building one myself?

Thanks all.

Re: HTPC for dummies?

Well there is HTPC Forums, Endgadget and The Green Button to start.

I have found that you can pretty much buy a new HTPC that already has a Blu-ray drive, HDMI, etc. that you would want for cheaper than you can build it yourself. There are some nice systems from Dell, HP, Alienware, etc. to name a few.

I know that Microsoft is working on a new solution for Windows 7 that will allow for integration with DirecTV and CableCard that should be out in a few months. If you really like Hulu you will love SecondRun which integrates with Media Center as a nice little plug in that goes to Hulu and others. I just got through watching two seasons of Babylon 5 and Land of the Giants.
