Denon AVR 1907 front panel display not lit up

My friend's Denon AVR 1907 just arrived today. And having one myself (same model) he ask for my help to setup his system. The problem is: the front panel display is not lighting up. I tried the "dimmer" button but to no avail. Everything is working fine except the front panel display. What do you suspect is the problem? Is it possible that it was damaged during shipment or I'm just missing something? Pity, there is no Denon service center here in Amman, Jordan. Can't find solution on the manual also. Hope you can help.

Did you try the dimmer button on both the remote and the AVR front panel? If not, it's worth a try to rule out a faulty button on either the remote or the AVR front panel. Otherwise, it may just be a bad front panel display.

Another thing that might be worth looking into is the power voltage. According to the manual, the unit requires 120 v AC power. Is that the voltage output where you are or is it 220 and you require a transformer? I don't know if it makes a difference...I'm just stretching here.

Thanks Mike. I tried what you suggested but still I can't get the front panel display to light up. I am now convince that this is a faulty front panel display. Fortunately, I still can rely on the OSD. By the way, he bought the receiver from Dubai and it is rated 220V 50hz. I don't think the voltage is the issue because Jordan and Dubai has the same voltage system.

I'd contacted Denon USA...but they wouldn't entertain me because I'm calling from Jordan. Can you believe that? I could've lied..

Can your friend return it to the vendor and get a replacement?
