Don't want extra bells & whistles

I am looking for a basic dvd player/surround sound amplifier combo that won't cost an arm and a leg. Don't want blu ray, or many of the extras, just a basic unit. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Buy used from a local online forsale forum. Used DVD players should be under $20 and used 2-3 year-old mid range 5.1 Receivers should be under $100.

Heck, you can even get new, brand name (not the Insignia crap) upconverting DVD players for under $70 and a new 5.1 Recevier for under $220 at Best Buy.

Do you own a LCD or plasma? What is your maximum budget?
