Hello everyone, first id like to say that I am very excited about joining this forum. I looking forward to learning so much from all of you and am very humble in my approach. I am very big into car audio but realize that it doesnt mean anything when it comes to home audio and video. My fiancee and I have been looking for a new house and believe we may have found the one! It is gonna be a bit of a fixer upper but has sooo much potential. One of the projects that I will be tackling is the basement. It is pretty large coming in at 34x17. My goal is to kinda divide the room in half and put a projector and screen on the darker half and then put a small bar, popcorn machine and mini kitchen in the middle and then a pool table and dart board on the bright end by the back door. l have a pretty wide wall on the dark end of the room and wanted to put a large screen on it. I was hoping to get at least 120" of screen so even the people at the bright end can look and see the screen while shooting pool or throwing darts. I have no knowledge of projectors but I found one that is kinda in my price range. I am wanting to spend 6-$700. I know that is pretty cheap but I just want to be able to pull off 720p for now and just make the room nice for family entertainment( movies and sporting events) I was wondering what you guys think about this projector Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 700 Projector, Overview - Product Information - Epson America, Inc. there is also this model for a little more money Epson Home Cinema 720 Projector Review This will be my very first projector and my first time building a home theater. I want to thank you all in advance for the help and knowledge you will be sharing with me.

The 720 is definitely a better projector. You can read reviews of these at Projectorcentral.com and Projectorreviews.com.

Re: epson powerlite cinema 700

is it worth the extra money for what I am trying to do? movies and sports? or can I just stick with the 700?

Re: epson powerlite cinema 700

I don't know what the price difference is, you didn't say. You said the 720 is "a little more".

Re: epson powerlite cinema 700

Have you considered a DLP projector? Are you going to ceiling mount projector? How tall is your ceiling?

Re: epson powerlite cinema 700

honestly I dont know what the difference is. My ceiling is 10 feet tall. I do plan on ceiling mounting it for sure. what is the difference between that projector and the dlp projector?

Re: epson powerlite cinema 700

Two different technologies which look different. I'm a big DLP fan. You need to view both types somewhere and see which you prefer. Articles can be read about the differences at Projectorcentral.com and projectorreviews.com.
