The Beast

No talk about this show at all here, but it had a satisfying finale. Most things were wrapped up, which is good, since I suspect there won't be a second season. If that's the case, I hope it's because Swayze doesn't want to do it rather than not being able to.

If anyone here watched, what was your interpretation of the ending?

(I'll spoiler the question, since this is the first post and the curious may be reading):

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Was the sniper targeting Paulson, and Barker saved her life, or was Paulson setting Barker up to be killed? I suspect it was the latter, and she gave him the unredacted memo because she knew it would take her compatriots down without implicating herself. But, the answer to the question determines what Barker's finger point meant. Was he saying, "You owe me one" or was he saying, "Now I know your role?"

I actually did see talk of The Beast in a couple of unrelated thread, with little enthusiasm shown for it. I suspect it's the rare show that will be more satisfying the second time around, once the secrets have been revealed.

Just watched this -- we usually get our stuff a few months behind (which isn't bad, it used to be years...)

I took it to mean the latter, since Paulson was watching everything with binoculars.  If she had been the target, upon spotting the sniper she would have taken cover and/or left immediately.  Which of course suggests Paulson is a member of the consipiracy as well.

It had been a great series, but what was somewhat disappointing was that it was so obvious who Viper was going to be, and the just how 'deus ex machina' that resolution was -- the magical production of one memo resolves the entire Red Gauntlet storyline.

Notwithstanding, I am disappointed that this will not be returning.

As an aside, I had been rooting for Ellis to be able to tell his sort-of girlfriend that he was really one of the good guys, so she could understand why things happened the way they did, but then again a good undercover agent would never compromise security that way.
