I've been using a pair of ICs as my surround sound speakers in a 5.1 setup (I know, call me crazy) . . . along with a pair of 2Cs, a VCC1 and a V2W powered by some Rotel gear.

Now I want to move the 1C's into another room and use them as intended as front speakers in a two-channel stereo set-up.

For surrounds, I'm obviously going to look at the VSMs. The problem is I cannot mount them flush on the wall. They will have to sit on three-foot-high columns that sit right in the two back corners of the room (back-wall/side walls) and possibly toed-in.

Complicating matters . . . the sole listening/viewing area in the room is a couch that sits flush-back against that same back wall. My ears will be about 3 1/2 - 4 feet from each VSM (are they are currently with the ICs.).

So what do you think? I know that the VSM should be mounted flush, but I can't, however the backs of each VSM will be wedged (sort of) into each corner. And what about the height? And should they be toed-in?

Or should I think of another solution . . . VLR'1s?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
