SVS SB12-Plus finish question

Due to space and wife restrictions I'm going to purchase an SB12-Plus rather than one of the larger subs.
Most people think the Rosenut or oak finish is well worth the extra $50 but I'm curious to hear from anyone who has an SVS sub with the vinyl finish. Vinyl conjures up images of a really cheap laminate that will not be very durable and may even peel off over time but I can't believe anything from SVS would be that bad. Can someone describe this finish to me? Also, a high resolution photo would be nice too.

Thanks!

I don't own an SVS sub, yet, but i would definitely go with a veneer finish, especially if your decor is on the nice side.
I have seen their subs at a demonstration last year and I can tell you their veneer finish is beautiful. Over the life of the sub, $50 is not much to spend.

I don't have one either, but I'd agree with Rick.

There are plenty of pix available on the 'net.

Here's the rosewood veneer:

I agree that the veneer finish is really nice. I ended up ordering the Rosewood.

BIll:

Congratulations.

I'm still using a Sony SA-WM40 for my subwoofer and hope to be able to upgrade someday (maybe after my youngest is out of college. Maybe.) So I hope to hear your report on the upgrade and be able to live vicariously through your experience!

Thanks.
I'll post a report once I receive it and get everything hooked up.

Re: SVS SB12-Plus finish question

I've had the SB12-Plus hooked up for about a week now. It blends really well with my Energy RC-Mini's, especially for music. Maybe not foundation shaking, window rattling SPL's at sub-20Hz but still plenty of bass for me.
I just watched Ironman and it sounded great.
I think the SB12-Plus is a very good compromize between sounding great with music (tight, fast and accurate) and extending low enough for good effect with movies, at least in my size room (2400 cu. ft.)
If you need a sub that is small in size, I'd be surprised if there is anything out there that is any better than this.
