denon "ext. in" volume level for each channel

Hi guys! I have a newly purchased denon dvd 1940CI connected to a denon avr 1306 via ext. in for my dvd-a and sacd pleaseures. I noticed that I can individually adjust the volume level of each speakers while on "Ext. in" mode. Would like to know is this normal or still bass management of my receiver is engaged? please shed light on this. thanks.

Yes, that is normal. When using the "Ext. In", the player is doing the processing, not the receiver. That's why you need to set the distances and levels, in the player's setup menus too.

Most receivers don't do bass management while in Ext. In mode. I think most people sets the LFE level about 10 dB higher. Actually, all they usually do is control the master volume. There are a handful (or less) of receivers that will do bass management while in Ext In (multi-channel) made. Your owner's manual should tell you if your receiver does or not.
