If ever there were films in which the directors depended for everything upon their cinematographers Fly Away Home is one of them -- right up there with Lawrence and The Godfather(s). In this case, the cinematographer is Caleb Deschanel, who once again serves as the capturer of images of director Carroll Ballard (The Black Stallion).
Fly Away Home is one of those films that come around once in a generation that tells wonderful story that can be appreciated by children and adults alike.
As I've noted in other commentaries, for the uninitiated, the task is simple. Pick up a copy of this gorgeous Blu-ray and become a fan. Couldn't be more simple.
This is a terrific release on Blu-ray.
