Amazon Actors

Thread Starter
Have you ever wondered how Amazon figures which actors to feature is a disc representation. Right now, The Arrival has Phyllis Applegate listed first under actors and then Lyndsey Crouse. No Charlie Sheen, no Teri Polo. Phyllis Applegate? The link below shows a more complete list, but the order way out of wack. I've seen Amazon do this before. They must automate this.

Amazon.com: The Arrival [Blu-ray]: Phyllis Applegate, Lindsay Crouse, Roger Cudney, Tony T. Johnson, Teri Polo, Leon Rippy, Richard Schiff, Charlie Sheen, David Villalpando, Jacqueline Voltaire, Jorge Zepeda, Buddy Joe Hooker, Ron Silver, Maria Luisa

Re: Amazon Actors

well it does appear to be alphabetical up until the last 3 names

Re: Amazon Actors

The cast members of the WB archive movies seem to be similarly ordered.

Re: Amazon Actors

I never paid attention or noticed and it doesn't matter to me.
Amazon has never been what I look at to see who is in a movie.

Doesn't seem like it is even worth wondering about.
Plus the title of this thread "Amazon actors"?
Looks like it's about Actors who are from the Amazon.
Please don't by shy about using much more descriptive topic titles.

Re: Amazon Actors

Hahaha ... I've wondered the same thing on many occasions.

No, I guess it "doesn't matter", but once you've seen a few Amazon invoices, it's hard to not wonder how they sort the actors.

Seems like they're alphabetical at first but then it's random.

Re: Amazon Actors

This bugs me too. I use both Amazon and IMDB a lot when researching for my reviews.

Or actors who have played Amazons.

Re: Amazon Actors

Amazon's generally getting better than they used to be, but sometimes they list the cast alphabetically, promoting bit players into the starring roles:

Gone with the Wind (Two-Disc Edition) ~ Everett Brown, Fred Crane, Clark Gable, and Howard C. Hickman

Sex and the City - The Movie (Special Edition) ~ Candice Bergen, Kim Cattrall, David Eigenberg, and Willie Garson (DVD - 2008)

The Shining [Blu-ray] ~ David Baxt, Lia Beldam, Lisa Burns, and Tony Burton

The Wizard of Oz (Two-Disc Special Edition) ~ Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Jo Ann Sayers, and Frank Whitbeck

Poltergeist (Blu-ray Book) [Blu-ray] ~ Dirk Blocker, Robert Broyles, Martin Casella, and Noel Conlon

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade Widescreen ~ Alison Doody, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies (DVD - 2003)

Singin' in the Rain ~ Cyd Charisse, Mae Clarke, Harry Cody, and Douglas Fowley (DVD - 2000)

Blazing Saddles (30th Anniversary Special Edition) ~ Richard Collier, Carol DeLuise, Dom DeLuise, and Liam Dunn (DVD - 2004)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ~ Lois Hall, Jared Harris, Elias Koteas, and Julia Ormond (DVD - 2009)

Re: Amazon Actors

I agree that this is weird. Unfortunately, it can be an impediment to a purchase as well. For some less well-known movies, where there are several movies with the exact same name, sometimes the only way of knowing if you are about to order the right movie is the listing of the stars. This frequently necessitates going back to IMDB to see if the actors Amazon lists really are in the movie you want!
